Yes, some people will call me crazy.  Oddly, others will call me out for stating the obvious.

But I've seen this happen in a lot of players careers.  They work like heck to improve weakness.  And I don't mean a small one but a huge weakness.  They experience intial improvement but eventually, they are what they are.  They regress.

For the last couple of months has been out and out awful.  I've said this many times and nothing I have seen changes my mind.  This kid, while a unique talent, simply doesn't have it in him to become even an average shooter.  He is what it is.

Sure we can, until he makes 4 in a row, because the main reason you posted this is he missed four in a row.

Not four in a row.  How about awful shooting for the past two months.  And frankly, for his entire career.

But yes, the four in a row look plain awful.

After a good start, Rondo's shooting has indeed regressed this season.  However, I think it's short-sighted to say that it can't be done.  He's, what, 25 years old?

Except his shooting was just fine for two months before that.

I don't think he'll ever be a great shooter like Pierce/Allen but as Roy said he's just 25.

And you did just post it because of the four misses, you just held this opinion before the misses too.

He's been in the league what, five years?  He's probably been playing basketball his entire life.  I think that is plenty of time to see what a guy will become.

Look at it this way.  Perk is only a year or two older and I don't think anyone is expecting for him to become an offensive player of any kind.

Rondo is what he is.  He has a fundmental flaw in his shooting that I don't think can be corrected.

TP for this thread.  Every summer people say "Rondo just needs to add a jumper this offseason" as if it's as simple as ordering at a Wendy's drive-thru.  But it then begs the question that if its that easy, why hasn't he done it already?  The answer is either that (a) he's lazy (which I don't think he is) or (b) it's not easy.

Since I lean towards (b), what makes us think that he will ever add a jumper?  There is a decent probability that he never will.  I'm okay with that.

The thing is, though, that Rondo just played half a season where he was shooting jump shots at above the league average.  Until recently, he was among the top shooters among PGs at mid-to-long range two pointers.  He's regressed lately, but the stroke is there.  He just needs to find it consistently.

Rondo is airballing jumpshots. He airballed one last night and he airballed one tonight.

Hes even bricking floaters.

Hes in a huge slump.

It was official that Rondo couldn't shoot years ago. I'd rather have Dennis Rodman shooting with the game on the line than Rondo.

Id rather have a Pierce contested fadeaway step back ISO jumper. You know, the play all of us hate when he misses it.

Paul Pierce contested Iso has a way better chance of succeding then a wide open 15 foot Rondo jumper.

I'd rather have Avery Bradley attempt a half-court double teamed bomb shot with the game on the line than have Rondo attempt an open 15 footer.

Too early to say he'll never develop a shot. I'll jump on this band wagon when the Big 3 leave and he's the main focus and the star of the team. He is most likely the 4th or 5th option for scoring. We rely more on Rondo for his ball distribution, knowledge of other players "spots" and so many other things. Still a chance.

So you've never heard of a player's shot improving after they turned 25?

Ah, I see you guys have conveniently forgotten the 5 jumpers he had in the game against LAC 3 days ago. But lets just pretend that never happened...he sucks!
