Rondo is either injured or exhausted because his defense tonight was absolutley pathetic. Mo Williams made him look like a Juco player.

Rondo's lazy? / apathetic? / injury riddled? / exhaustion riddled? defenseive effort tonight was just nauseating.

His defensive lapses wer personally reponsible for 12 points down the stretch:

1. fouling Mo Williams on a three

2. two three point shots at the top of the key on bad effort getting around a pick

3. And an out of bounds play where he simply watched his man go to the corner baseline for another three without lifting a leg. KG at least made the effort to run out there and try to contest the shot.

Add on to this the countless times Mo Williams got by Rondo out front and he just reached from behind as always.

Memo to Rondo - defense is best played by staying IN FRONT of your man.

Our interior D isn't the problem right now and it will get better.

The real problem is just terrible perimeter defenders who refuse to keep their men in front of them.

I'd rather see Avery Bradley playing D - at least he'll fight.

Two Rondo threads? One thread wasn't enough for all the hate?

I actually love Rondo and I'd take him over any other point guard in the league.

Fact - He was pathetic tonight. He's entitled now and then like all of us, but he was just terrible...

That's not hate, it's calling it what it is.

I actually agree with the OP as far as this thread is concerned.  Criticism =/= Hate.

Rondo's lack of acceptable defense on Mo Williams is the primary reason we lost tonight.

Okay, hate was a wrong word..but there is another thread calling him "overrated"....just don't see why we need a second thread on the same subject.

Something is up. He was starting to attack more and more just before the Perk trade.

He dribbled the shot clock out numerous times tonight. His defense has been slipping the past few games.

Yea had nothing to do with KG going 5 for 19, or that our new bench is like 2 weeks old, or that Kristc is a poor defender. Let's be real rondo's play was one reason, not the primary reason

I don't think that was the biggest reason we lost. Mo only had 10 points in the second half and 9 of those came of those 2 big 3-pointers and then that (imo) ridiculous call where he got three free throws.

However I do think some of his decisions down the stretch were pretty questionable. Too many times where the ball would stick until there was only 5 or 6 seconds left on the shot clock.

I love Rondo  but there has been something wrong the last few games.  He just hasn't seemed himself.  Whether he has some little nagging injury that we will hear about after the fact and he is playing through it because we have no one else or maybe the Perk trade is still bothering him (I know it's still bothering me and I wasn't his best friend).   He may just be tired and with a back up to help out and give him some rest he'll be fine.   Hopefully whatever it is will be resolved and he will get back to the Rondo we all know and love very soon.

TP Atzar.

I love Rondo but - he really sucked tonight on D. He's either exhausted, injured or as FLCeltsFan said, maybe it's possible he's deflated form the Perkins trade. Maybe he saw his career in Boston in tandem with another team build around he and Perkins. I know I would be devastated if my best friend was treaded away.

Money is money - and they're making alot of. But money doesn't trump your best friend and everything that goes on off the court with those people. Maybe that's it, I don't know.

But there is an expression "he who wears the crown also bears all the weight". Rondo makes the show go, he wears the crown and his responsiblity to the team is to show up "every night". Ask Jordan, Bird, Magic, KG, etc...about this.

You will never se KG put in a lackadaisical effort. He may stink some nights but it's not for lack of effort. With Rondo, he looks apathetic - that's what makes me more crazy than the fact that he stunk tonight.

Even though he is young, 40 minutes a game takes it toll. No matter how fit you are. It looks to me that he's tired and getting lazy and it shows tremendously in his game. I think its a part of the reason that they picked up Arroyo. Arroyo will take some of Rondo's minutes so that he can be well rested for the playoffs as well. The Celts are doing the same for the main core of the team and they show it by the example of Shaq being out for so long. Once Arroyo gets the system, Rondo won't have as high minutes.
