Celtics use of STATS?

Anyone have insights into the types of stats or metrics that the Celts use in evaluating players or other aspects of the game? Danny has referenced stats a lot when discussing the recent trade.

Also the decision to not go after offensive boards. is this stat driven or a reflection of having an old team. Would like to see layers like Green crashing the offensive boards.

It seems like he uses stats that are readily available on the internet.

  I think he has better stats than those. They may exist on the internet but not on most free sites that people frequent, at least not the ones I've been to. I can remember one time he was talking about the fg% of players with KG contesting their shot compared to the average fg% of contested shots.

Oh, unquestionably. Those just seem to be the ones he refers to in interviews recently. I know for a fact that Synergy has the information that you are talking about. Synergy has every shot taken in the league broken down by play type and who was defending it. What you can then do is see how players rank on a ppp or % basis on either side of the ball.

One thing I like about Ainge is that he seems to give equal voice to all parties. His stats guy(Zarren), the brain doc, and actual scouts(Papile and his son and co.) all seem to get their voices heard and considered. Intelligence and diversity from an entire room of trustworthy minds is powerful stuff.
