Let's his man blow by just so he can try to strip him from behind. Why does Doc allow him to play D this way? It's infuriating.

It is interesting to see how Bradley seems better than Rondo at remaining in front of his man. Normally I would say that Rondo didn't let Jennings through, rather Jennings is just hard to defend. But Rondo doesn't seem as impressive at positional defense as Bradley.

Still, Jennings is tough to defend because of how quickly he pulls up for jumpers. A little fake and then a quick burst and he is around you. On days when shots fall, he makes you look bad. On days when the shots don't fall, he looks like another inefficient scorer.

I've never liked the way he plays defense. He does a lot of good things defensively, but the things I value the most he doesn't seem to do consistently well and I really don't know what the reason for it is.

Jennings is a tough cover, but Rondo plays this kind of D against most point guards. I am absolutely terrified of going up against Derrick Rose with the way Rondo plays man to man D.

Jennings has a really quick first step which is way difficult too guard. Fronting him will leave his man flatfooted. IMHO it would be ideal to guard him at an angle.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

How many Rondo hate threads can be created in a week? This two time all defensive PG will be here for a long time.

I thought this thread was gonna be a joke, or that the OP would be mostly disagreed with, respectfully of course.

But i'm surprised how many people are complaining about Rondo's defense of all people. Granted he looked kinda lazy tonight, but Rondo has always been an awesome defender. Especially man to man.

I don't get this thread at all.

been playin 4 years and he's a 2-time first team defender right?
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

I think the starters clearly knew the bucks couldnt beat them, so Rondo kinda took the night off a lil bit. Pierce and KG went all out as usual and ray turned it on Late. But Rondo kinda seemed a lil cocky, like w/e jennings do what you will your team is gonna lose no matter what. I didnt like what I saw from him tonight, at times. But c'mon... we've won so many games because of this guy.

I for one can't stand Rondo when he does this. Nice to take the D behind you for granted, but he got torched by Rose when KG was out and let's scrubs like Fisher get into the lane for floaters and easy jumpers.

He's quick and long enough to keep his man in front of him and make his job hard, so do that. I know he likes to assist-hunt, but stop looking to rack up steals too.

You shouldn't be surprised. Even Doc has a history of complaining about Rondo's gambling. Tonight reminded many people of that.

Part of it is that Rondo reacts differently than Bradley when he gets beat. Bradley tries to recover and stay with his man, while Rondo at times seems to give up on recovering and tries to poke the ball out from behind. When this doesn't work, it frustrates people because someone ends up with an open shot. Many would rather see Rondo use his foot speed to recover like Bradley.

I think people get the wrong impressions from Rondo's defense. I firmly believe he is in any discussion for top defensive point guard in the league and I have him as the top. Because of hand checking no longer being allowed, you can't lock someone down on every play like Payton used to do.

If you go back and watch the tape, Rondo was only fully responsible for 4 of Jennings' points the whole night and he was the main defender on the pick and roll for 5 more points and I think it can be argued that that responsibility should be equally distributed to the big.

I think its just a bit of laziness.

Rondo gets up for the big games, like his great D against Lebron and miami.

Im more worried about the high turnover numbers, probably also a bit of laziness though.

I'm not concerned with Rondo's game til he gets a backup. Sure it's been bad the last few games but we all know well he's being forced to log more minutes. I know he can't keep playing like this with his defense, turnovers, passing up layups, but he needs Doc to sit him longer.
