Why he goes:

1) If he asks for too much money or too many years.
($10M for 3 yrs max)
2) Sign and trade?

Why he stays:

1) If we do not sign Kristic.
2) If we do not sign Murphy.
3) If Shaq retires due to injuries.
4) If JO retires due to injuries.
5) If we trade Shaq as expiring contract.
6) If we trade JO as expiring contract.

I think Danny is going to sign and trade BBD for OJ Mayo

The Grizzlies already had a trade for McRoberts and a 1st round pick from Indiana , but the trade fell through at the last minute

They may be interested in a package like

Bos Sends: BBD and Avery Bradley or 1st rd pick

Mem Sends: OJ Mayo

Mayo has already said he would want to play with Rondo in an interview and he would be a restricted FA in 2012, so we would have the ability to match anything if we knew that Howard had no interest in signing here.

future core:

Rondo
OJ Mayo
PP
Green

Then if a superstar became available we could package Green and OJ Mayo for them

I think doing a sign and trade for Davis would be pretty smart especially if he tries to get OJ Mayo. That could definitely be a move that improves our future and maybe doesn't make the rebuilding process so harsh. Rondo, Mayo and Green are some good pieces to center something around.

I think Glen will want too much money or another team will offer him a big contract that will have him seeing a different kind of green and he'll leave. Either way Danny has shown that he could draft someone to replace Davis if he needed to.

I would be very surprised if BBD was a Celtic next year.

I just don't think it'll happen.  I think his price will be too high and Danny is smart enough to realize that you can't overpay role players in this league.

I tend to believe Baby will walk also.  Some team out there will offer him more money/a chance to start this offseason and he won't turn that down.

I really dont see a situation in which Davis will stay. Unless no one wants him (again) and he signs a short term bargain deal with us. If he walks, I cant say that I'll be too upset... At all.

yeah, i see BBD walking too. can't blame him. he's young, he already has a ring, and he's been searching for that big payday 2 years ago. i think someone is going to overpay for him. i actually don't mind getting a player as a rental (1yr expiring contract) for BBD. i haven't done any real "scouting" though, so i don't know who are on one year contracts starting next year.

Danny is generally pretty good at assessing FA value... well, Scal is an exception but I'm very glad he let Posey and Leon walk despite popular demand. I don't think he's going to hesitate letting BBD walk either. While he may have Danny glasses and overvalues players he's fallen in love with, he doesn't seem to have green googles, where he overvalues players just because they're Celtics players.

If I was a betting man, I'd put money on a S&T.  If Danny can get Mayo for BBD and small change, that would be very intriguing.  Not sure Mayo would fit in with Ray, PP and Green for minutes but he's definitely a nice piece for the future.  Probably means we wouldn't be getting back TA though  ;)

BBD is as good as gone next year, I think hes going to want to start somewhere and lets face it, he's made a wonderful career for himself as an undersized PF in this league. Hes going to be a great role player but I could see him in a S&T for a young center.

The C's are going to have a tough time filling out the roster next year. With the exception of JO and Bradley, our entire bench could enter free agency next year.  Delonte, Wafer, Green, BBD, Krstic, Murphy, even Shaq has an option year.

BBD might have a better chance of staying on than the minimum guys because we have the capacity to pay him more and they have limited options to fill out the big man rotation.  Hard to say how much the team values him, though.  He certainly does have an inflated sense of his own worth, based on everything I've seen and heard from him.

If I had to guess, I'd say the team lets him go to the highest bidder (sign and trades are pretty rare, no?), resigns Jeff Green to fill some of the back-up 4 minutes, hopes for one more round with Shaq/JO at the 5, tries to retain Krstic on a one year deal, and then goes bargain hunting with the vet min.

The more interesting question to me is whether they'll retain Delonte West.  Injury issues aside, you couldn't ask for a better bench guy going forward.  I'd much rather have him back than Baby.

I used to think that he was gone after this season, but I'm starting to believe he'll be back.

Davis did poorly as a starter this year, which is why I think other teams will not jump at the chance to sign him.  He'll still hold value to us coming off the bench next year, and could still get good minutes.

While I'm sure he wants max $$ more than anything, I just don't think a team out there would sign him for too much.

I think Big Baby is out of here next year, if only to go prove there is some team in the NBA he can start for.  And I don't think the C's are in the least inclined to overpay him.  They'd probably rather have Krstic, KG, JO, Murphy, and Green, for the money they'd have to commit going forward.

A month ago I would've thought that BBD was almost assuredly a goner, unless the new CBA was so restrictive that teams had no money to spend next summer.

However, I think the Green trade increases the chances that he's back next year for two reasons.

1) Whether right or wrong, Ainge may believe that Green extends the window of the Big Three.  And if Ainge is considering extending Ray and KG beyond 2012, then 2013 or 2014 may be the year of the big free agent push, not 2012.  And if we're going to wait an additional year or two, overpaying for BBD on a 2-3 year contract wouldn't hurt the team.

2) Green (as well as an incredible depth of big men) may actually cut into Baby's minutes and productivity.  Simply put, if Doc wants to get Jeff Green more than 10 mpg in the playoffs, he's going to have to play him with the starters and that's going to eat into Baby's role.  Furthermore, with a healthy stable of 7-footers, the need to play Baby at the 5 is going to decrease.  Thus, we may see Baby's minutes drop from the upper 20s all the way down to 10-15 mpg, maybe even less.

And that could go a long way in driving down his value.

Now of course, the loss of PT may actually encourage him to leave.  However, depending on how restrictive the new CBA is, teams may be even less likely to pony up big money for someone of BBD's caliber, meaning that Boston's best offer might be his best offer.

Same here. If he goes I'm sure someone else will step up and provide production of the bench.  The leauge is mostly role players anyways.
