Sorry, but I like him quite a bit, actually ... I think he's easily one of the best announcers in the NBA. If you want obnoxious, listen closely to the Lakers' announcer ... or Philly's, or Miami's, or Denver's ... or many others who are far worse. Other arenas also play way too much music during active game time, IMO, and that drives me crazy ... I think Boston has a good balance.

I think some of that hypeman-type stuff has died down recently, but man it was bad when Detroit was always going to the ECF.

What's our PA announcer's name? I think it's Eddie something. He's far from unbearable, though. It could be a lot worse. Imagine BAW-STIN BAS-KET-BALLLLL!

i have no use for the current guy who is way too loud and sounds off like we just won the title every time Ray hits a 3 - of course, i despise the entire current presentation of Celtics basketball with the screaming PA, the blaring music, the light show and, of course, the dance team.

Boston was always the one franchise which made it all about basketball. when the Celts came out for warmups, it was a regular, but sublime, announcement, "Ladies and Gentlemen, Your World Champion Boston Celtics."

I don't mind the PA guy for the most part. Kinda ticks me off when he yells "KG!" after Garnett scores...I wish he would refer to him by his full name...weird, but we all have little, odd things that tick us off.

The game has evolved both on and off the court, & with that, even changes have to occur with one of the league's most storied and traditional franchises.  From the Fab 5 bringing baggy shorts mainstream, to headbands, arm sleeves, wearing sweat bands on legs, forearms rather than elbows, equipment is more about fashion in a sense than actually using it for its purpose (example, a headband absorbing sweat)...it's just always going to be this way.  I wouldn't mind if the Celtics stayed totally traditional...no dancers, no light shows or extreme jumbotron presentations...it doesn't affect me one way or the other, but they're trying to appeal to what the league believes the modern fanbase is composed of & you can't fault them for it.  They're trying to present a product they believe the majority of basketball fans will go for.

i actually really like the C's PA announcer hes voice reminds me of tony chimel an announcer for a wrestling show i think i love how he yells ray allen for 3 !!! and he actually does say kevin garnett wen its not a big play

if the Celtics truly cared about their tradition, they would have brought Andy Jick back.  He has been thrown to the curve because he was a classic voice, and not your standard blowhard who thinks their sole purpose is to get the crowd involved.  The PA job has opened up a few times, and Jick has been passed over every time.  Pitino fired Jick a few weeks before the season when he first took over because he wanted someone more 'into it.'

What's wrong with the guy we have now? He doesn't go TOO overboard and he's got a good voice for it. Waaaaay better than the majority of the other teams in the league!

Let's not get rid of the cheerleaders and say we did. I do find it weird that he uses the players nicknames sometimes when they score, KG and I've even heard him use Big Baby. He can be kind of annoying, didn't really bother me until Ray broke the 3 record and heard the clip over and over and over everywhere. I wish he put more emphasis on when Rajon gets an assist.
