Roy H. -- As Arroyo was signed today, will he be able to play in the playoffs for us? I've got some guy swearing up and down that there is no way Arroyo will be playoff eligible for the playoffs because he was signed after the 11:59, March 1st buyout deadline. This guy is saying he can only play for us for the regular season and that's it. That doesn't make sense to me.

Pls advise and if you have any written documentation to prove it I'd be grateful; I have both bragging rights and a very nice steak dinner riding on the outcome.

Someone else on the board already told me as long as players are signed before the end of the regular season, they are playoff eligible, and I believe that, but I need more confirmation if anyone has it.

He was cut on March 1, I think...before the deadline. So, yes, he is playoff eligible.

This.  It doesn't matter when a player signs, but rather when he's bought out.

Here's a quote:

Quote
By parting with Arroyo before Tuesday's 11:59 p.m. deadline, Arroyo becomes eligible for another team's playoff roster.

Link

... and a quote from Larry Coon:

Quote
If a player is waived after March 1, he is ineligible to be included in the playoff roster of any team that signs him for the remainder of that season.

Link.

Yes. Doesn't matter when he was signed (before the start of the playoffs of course) as long as the player was waived at the buyout deadline.

That's good insurance in case DWest has more bad luck coming. Change your number, Delonte.

Thanks Roy H., and TP's all the way around , appreciate the quick feed back.

Your replies confirm two things:

1. My uncle is still a moron - he'll love reading this post...

2. That I will have a great steak dinner.

Have a good weekend!

The first to guess who said that gets a TP. ;)

And we have a winner! But really, Starbury > Arroyo. He wanted to come back for 10/11, but hasn't. Anyone knows the reason? I guess he's been put in the box, after all.
