we are averaging 107.0 points per game the last 4 games...denver leads the league at 107.46 points per game...so...obviously the
offense is already there...

Defense the past four games:  100 points allowed per game

I'd like the scoring a lot more if it wasn't coupled with poor defense.  Playoff basketball isn't predicated on shootouts.

The defense should improve with further gelling and health.  However, I'm not in love with three straight games giving up 102+ points.  Our team won a championship with defense, and that still needs to remain this team's identity.

Not going to read too much in these teams scoring on us, particularly with some of the 5-men bench units we have been rolling, plus we've been playing some of the best offensive teams in the league. Plus, Golden State tonight was shooting lights out, they were hitting everything.

And Phoenix we were destroying them until we took our foot off the accelerator.

But it's promising what we've been seeing so far.

  • GOT IT!!!
When the C's want to play lockdown defense they will. With an improved bench they are afforded some let up in the regular season.

We need Shaq and JO back to clog up the lane, we all know that Kristic and Murphy aren't defensive players, although I think Kristic has been pretty good so far in our system.

They will be playing against 2nd units for the most part, so I am not overly concerned yet.

When Shaq  BBD and hopefully JO get back our D is going to be fine

I think that as JG, Nenad and Troy get acclimated to the team they will improve defensively.

We'll be fine. If it's the offense that is already gelling, then I'm happy. The defense will come.

What matters to me is that we are still winning while Doc is trying to put the pieces together.

I think our defense will be fine.  We've been playing nothing but high scoring, run and gun teams lately.  Watch us shut down the Bucks on Sunday.  People might be wondering what's wrong with our offense, though.  Sometimes the other team is a factor in what happens during the game.

Agreed... Its great scoring so many points, but at the same time out defense has been letting up a good amount. In defense of the point, we have been playing a string of uptempo teams lately.

That added scoring is purely Jeff and Nenad being better than Perk and Nate offensively.

The defense will come when positioning gets worked out, then its just hard work and intensity.

A side note I've actually liked how Kris has defended these past couple of games.

You guy cant possibly think that we would still be a great defensive team without Perk, Shaq, JO, and at the same time intergrating 5 new guys that have no idea about the way this team works...

It will come in due time. With Shaq back that automatically makes us the best defensive team in the league like we have been all season.

All in due time. We havent seen this team play at 100% all season. I say were at 75% or below and were still the best in the east.

The offense has looked great lately. You can point to the poor defensive teams we faced if you want, but we are scoring with ease with crisp ball movement, attacking the basket, and hitting open shots. That should happen against any team when those things occur.

The defensive numbers don't look great, but they held nice leads and let them slide. If the games were close they could have locked down IMO. I personally believe JO is a better defender than Perk (except against D12). The only question is will he be healthy and learn the system Perk had years to learn alongside KG.

If the C's can go into the playoffs with this strong, versatile bench AND be able to close out games with Rondo/Ray/Paul/KG/JO, that will be the lockdown defense to hold leads (and extend them).
