Not every trade Danny has made has been a clear win for the Celtics, though.
* Antoine for Raef wasn't a great deal for us; it saddled us with a bad contract for several years, which greatly limited our flexibility. Indeed, we had to surrender a lottery pick to shed Raef's salary.
* The Ratliff/Raef deal. Sure, this was the trade that set us up to get KG, but that doesn't mean that Portland regrets it. We traded a pick that could have been Brandon Roy or Rudy Gay for basically cash / cap flexibility. That worked out for us, but it wasn't a coup (and might not have been necessary but for the poor Antoine trade).
* The second Antoine trade. We gave up a #1 pick for a couple of playoff games. Danny had no intention of signing Antoine, but gave up a draft pick anyway. This pick turned out to be Rajon Rondo. Luckily, we were able to buy the pick back, but had to surrender yet another 1st rounder to do so. Again, not great value.
* The Wally / Ricky deal. Is it possible for both sides to lose in a trade? This one didn't help either team; garbage in, garbage out.
* Ray for Green. This one worked out great for us, uniformly. However, does OKC regret it? I don't think so. They shed Ray's contract, and picked up a lottery pick. With the cap space they opened up, they ultimately were able to add three 1st rounders. A good move for both teams.
* KG for Big Al. Again, this was a steal for us, but Danny didn't pull the wool over anybody's eyes. Minnesota got a young 20/10 guy and cap space, along with some other young prospects and picks. They unfortunately ended up squandering every bit of what we gave them, but as far as pre-Carmelo superstar deals went, it was pretty fair value.
So, again, I don't think there's any reason for other GMs to stop dealing with us. Danny has made some great deals, but hasn't outright snookered a lot of other teams (the Jiri trade excepted.)
