Charles, Charles, Charles....just said San Antonio is "not a top team" and "overrated" during the halftime show of Heat/Magic. Yikes.

I rather agree with him, and Vegas does too.  Despite the Spurs' record to date, there are several other teams who have better odds in Vegas to win the title this year.  I suggest you bet on the Spurs then if you feel that strongly about them  ;)

They ARE overrated...Lakers and Dallas are clearly better.

Records mean nothing.

Boston went 50-32 last season and took out the top two teams in the confernece because we had the better team.

Records mean nothing. SA has no big men outside of Duncan and will get dominated by the Lakers. Im tired of people thinking that SA is the best team in the west.

The Lakers have won two straight titles, they arent going to from from a championship team to getting booted out of the playoffs by any other team other then Boston.

Yeah despite their record I think most people have LAL DAL BOS MIA CHI ahead of them.

SAS has a tougher part of their schedule coming up so we'll see how they fare after their hot start, and finally having to deal with an injury.

The media as a whole has been taking San Antonio lightly all season because they don't have an ultra-athletic superstar on their roster and are winning more through offense than defense.

I fully expect the Spurs to make the WCF and most likely the Finals.  No team has ever had a record like that throughout the season and not made the conference finals, and all but one of them went on to win the title.

I don't understand how anybody can say that the Mavs and especially the Lakers are "clearly better."  The Spurs don't just have more wins - they have more quality wins against quality opponents.  They also have more overall depth.  Also, people who fault the Spurs for not having a phenomenal defense yet laud the Lakers forget that the Lakers defense isn't particularly great this year, either.

The Mavs have a better defense this season than in the past but I'm still skeptical.  I think the Spurs match up very well with the Mavs - Parker should burn Kidd and Timmy can defend Dirk.

Keep sleeping on the Spurs...see where it gets you.  If I had to pick a team out west to beat the Spurs it would actually be the Thunder.  But they still don't have the experience, I think.

After all the Cavs last season had the best record in the league and they didn't win the title. We'll have to see what they'll do the in the playoffs but I wouldn't see them getting by the Lakers if they faced them.

San Antonio cannot beat the Lakers, they just arent big enough. Lakers may not be playing well right now, but you cant discount a championship team that has the size that they do plus Kobe.

I can understand calling the team overrated. No way to really disprove that until the playoffs shake out, I suppose. But not a top team? The team is 5 1/2 games up of the second seed late in the season in a brutal conference and has the league's best record by a fair margin.

Vegas odds are unrelated to chances. Aren't they just reflections of popular opinion, with odds changing based on betting, not performance?

If the general public is sleeping on a team like the Spurs, than the Vegas odds will be low.

I agree, the Spurs lack of size will be a problem for them. Nothing insurmountable but a big weakness.

They could be favourites to win the west if they had another quality big, someone with a combination length and mobility - all their guys have one or the other. A defensive player. Popovich should have insisted in Splitter.

As it is, they're still a top team but not above Dallas/Los Angeles/OKC.

I understand why people can say that. It is because some people take their opinions too seriously.
