Bizarre.

Quote
Celtics forward Kevin Garnett and Suns coach Alvin Gentry had words for one another in the final seconds of the C's 115-103 victory over Phoenix on Wednesday night. Things escalated when Rajon Rondo then attempted a three-pointer with the C's holding a 10-point lead, which led to a technical foul from Jared Dudley.

"Alvin Gentry was asking me for tickets for the first round of the playoffs," Garnett said after the game. "I told him I'll hook him up, so that's what that was."

Celtics coach Doc Rivers shared his opinion on the exchange, saying he doesn't believe in such behavior from coaches.

"I thought their bench, their coaches were talking," Rivers said, "which I don't think you should ever [do] if you have a suit and tie on and and actually can't play. I don't think toy should be doing a lot of talking to the players on the floor. It's just my opinion."

Garnett, who led all scorers with 28 points in the game, said he generally wouldn't expect a coach to jaw at a player, but given the tension between the two teams this season, he wasn't surprised.

"It's very uncommon," Garnett said, "but they're an uncommon team."

Garnett was joking, poking fun that the Suns are currently out of the playoffs.

made this post last night :P
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

Brilliant move by KG, as well as that last sec three at the end of the game by Rondo.

Both instances here were Classless, to me - but I Love It, though!

PHX deserves it. The job they did on us in PHX warrants a little payback.

PHX: Why don't you go jawwing off to the Lakers rather than Boston?

Scurred? ;D

meh, people like to throw out words like "classless" far too much. These guys arent sitting through an opera, this is basketball. It is a physical competition that these guys have dedicated thier lives too since they were little boys. They take it very seriously....

I mean really if everyone person who EVER got mad and did something out of spite has no class then every single human being on the planet is classless.

There's nothing classless about nba players, even the trouble makers do more for charity and thier families than most people can say.

"Clasless"...
I ll tell you what is classless- Phoenix anouncers.
They got me so worked up in final minute of the game I swear I'd beotchslap both of them if I had a chance.

For those of you fortunate enough to listen to Tommy I ll sum it up;

-"Rondo just did what most NBA players consider classless" (after PP dribbled entire clock on penultimate play w/o even trying to shot what does Pho do? Of course they get quick 2p with 16 sec on the clock- but that is not classless, Rondo shooting next ball is)

- "He tried to pull up for 3p but our boy dudley hacked him"
"yeah, good move I missed that, he told him uh-uh we're not playing that type of basketball"

- "I wish he'd went to the rim so that Dudley could take a swing at him there and put him to the ground"
"yeah that would teach him the lesson"

-"Wouldn't it be good if 51% F player missed all 3 free throws now"
"yeah that would be a lesson"
"Boy these Pho-Bos games are never boring"

Or during the 16-0 Pho run...:

"We are on 16-0 run, these fans are stunned, they are apsolutely shocked" (you can hear this line really well becouse of 18000+ fan SCREAMING "LET S GO CELTICS)

I mean I m used on bit of homer thing going on with these broadcasts (we have tommy afterall:) but this was a disgrace, calling for a hard foul on TV...

Well for what it's worth, Donnie "for the kids out there watching" Marshall also said he thought it was wrong. I don't remember if he used the term classless but did say he expected Ray and Pierce would have something to say to him about taking that 3.

Now for my opinion. A) I have NO problem with him taking that shot. It was ovious they was stuff going on and being said, both ways. Pierce elected to let the clock run out rather than shoot with 16 seconds left and the Suns rush down and take an open lay up. That also could be considered classless.
B) the suns coach barking at KG and getting KG getting a T for taking back could be considered classless.
C) yelling F. You 5 or 6 times at the ref could be considered classless.

D) I don't understand this whole classless crap anyway. These are grown men. Stop crying like babies that so and so said this or that. I mean for goodness sake Pierce gets a T for staring at them after a jam. I certainly hope done of them need to undergo years of theropy to get over the emotional scars.

Larry Bird, Magic, MJ, etc must throw up in their colective mouths a little every time something like this is called. Or maybe it's the stupid little brush fouls or perhaps it's the now in vouge double T every time two guy box each other out.

I guess I'm showing my age, but it really and trully is becoming a woose league. It's getting bad enough I might have to consider watching hockey. Okay, I can't stand hockey, but you get the idea.

Thank you for allowing me to vent. I was having a rough day. One of the guys here at work said he didn't like my shirt.

I didn't think that PP was staring at him to taunt. I thought he was angry about the foul, where Paul got hit pretty good when he was in the air and Frye (or whoever it was) had no chance of stopping the shot.

It might have been both, but I think it was because Frye got posterized by a 33 year old man. I wish I could have seen the game...stupid knicks game on NBA tv, but I saw the highlights. Can honestly say there is no love between the two teams, still surprised at Gentry though. Thats too far. I can't imagine Doc ever doing anything like that.
