My bad, I was watching on DVR, I must have missed the free throws. But I don't think I've ever seen a player curse out a ref that way.

The Suns had a chance to run the clock down and went for a baseline layup instead.

Exactly right. The Suns showed very little class doing that right after the C's showed sportsmanship by taking a 24-second violation to try and end the game. I don't blame Rondo for taking exception and heaving a three at the end.
“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

Agreed.  And Donny Marshall calling out Rondo for taking that shot forgot to mention that the C's took a 24 second violation but the Suns didn't play out the clock on the other end.  We're not on the floor and don't know all the details, but I'm sure Rondo felt the need to stick it to them a little.  I'm guessing something was said to anger him.

My brother also commented on the Suns commentator's sour grapes.

Wow, sorry, I did not feel that way at all. They were extremely complimentary of the Celtics all game long, and marveled at their team work, defense, passing, etc.  They understandably got very excited when the Suns made their come-back, and yes, threw some darts at the Celtic players for some things, including Rondo's last second 3 point shot which was, let's face it, bush league. If you guys thought they were terrible homers, you have not been listening to other teams' broadcaster. These guys were as complimentary as you will see from the other side's broadcast team.

Maybe you missed what Eddie Johnson had to say when Rondo took that last second jumper. He said something to the effect of praising Dudley for clocking Rondo.

I couldn't believe that.
He was basically implying 'yeah that little punk deserved what he got'.
Completely ignored the gesture of running out the clock to get the game over with and being slapped in the face by the suns running the ball down the court.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

The comments at the end were unprofessional and overall they weren't great.

Typically, teams that are behind don't run the clock, they always go for a basket.

Eh, I don't know. Not in games where it is clearly over and the other team just took a turn over instead of another shot. Clearly Rondo took exception to this and the barking from the Sun's bench. I'd have preferred him to take Doc's high road approach, but I don't blame him for what he did.

What??
I watched so many games announced by opponents homers, and NEVER I found myself so p---ed off about what they were saying.
They gave C's some credits here and there when it was impossible not to if you were attending the game, but for the most part it was all about pointing out KG, Rondo, "unnecessary showmanship", "silenced crowd" and other bs.
You could hear the noise of their fingers through their teeth: just envy, anger and hate.

Veeeeeeeery unprofessional.
The Celtic in me.

I didn't think about how Pierce ran down the clock on the previous trip, that's a good point. Suns were acting like fools.

Bulls commentators are much worse (stacy king) but yea, there was a lot of annoying stuff from the suns commentators all game. Earlier Scott Williams was saying he "wasn't a fan" of KG getting down low, pulling his shorts up guarding Steve Nash. How stupid is that; he's basically just saying he's not a fan of defense. Just like the team I guess.

Well, he is following the company line. Suns don't like defense either.  ;D

Depends on the team, plenty take junk three point shots. But many others will just stand their and wait to hit the showers.
