$9mil/yr for Perkins, whom plays a weak offensive game?! I enjoy watching how the C's don't have to 'waste possessions' feeding Perkins on Offense just to keep him happy so he'll play Defense. Good job Danny!

Now keep Rajon Rondo in the fold in 2012 with some cap-space and attract Free-Agents with his Point-Guards Pass 1st, Shoot 2nd Philosophy!  ;D Who doesn't want Rondo to pass them the rock for some touches/shots?

As with most things in basketball, its not as much about the 1 player as it is the net product.  But Rondo is already under an ideal contract, so you build around him.

Rondo is the future of this franchise.  But because of that, a non-shooting/scoring center is worse than he normally would be.  On some teams, like OKC, Perkins is worth $9mil a year.  Unfortunately on this team in 2012 and beyond Perkins is not as valuable, and could have greatly limited the product on the court.

This isn't about "getting Dwight Howard".  But it is about building this franchise around Rondo who is already signed to an amicable contract.  From there, the sky is the limit.

Good point. I was looking at it from the Celtics perspective.

This wasn't exactly the OP I was expecting, but I'd just like to say:

now that I've gotten over the pain of Perk's departure a little bit and seen what these guys can do... this is a great trade. Really, really great when you consider the Clippers pick we got as well.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I am liking Jeff Green and I hope he gets over the first couple of game jitters so we can see first-hand what he is really all about.

If he does pan out, I'd love to keep him in green for a few years and hopefully Boston nabs D. Howard in 2012 free agency.  That is a very athletic threesome right there with Rondo quarterbacking the offense.
