Dude is a ballhog in every essence of the word. What part of moving the ball movement does Baby not get? Doc preaches ball movement everyday. Baby is the worst Culprit. As soon as he comes the ball sticks. I don't if he's padding his stats like Rondo or not. Baby should be leading the Bench by playing Celtics Basketball & moving the ball. Instead He goes into his selfish mode. 26minutes and not a single assist. Nick Young scuffs at that. Hope the new guys don't pick-up that habit

I was just talking about this with my friend tonight.

If he gets the ball within 5 feet of the rim, the other 4 C's should just get back on D.

But it's OK, because he is extremely efficient near the rim and rarely gets blocked.


But seriously, I hope he is OK because his positives outweigh his negatives.

Baby has been just plain horrible lately. Maybe this injury will be a good thing for him mentally.

Couldn't agree more.  I, too, feel every time he gets the ball down low, he simply is just looking to shoot it.  I mean, if the shot is there, of course, take it.  However, it seems he simply always looks to put it up, even if surrounded by 2 or 3 guys.  It is frustrating at times.  I like Davis, he does hustle, but sometimes I feel he is solely looking to pad his stats, as well.

Hope he has a good recovery from the patella injury.  He is obviously an important part of the team's plans, but hope he can change this whole shoot first mentality, no matter how many guys are on him, just a little bit.

Yup, Baby is a black hole. What bothers me is that sometimes he wastes time off the shot-clock just sizinging the guy up before he makes his move. It's pretty obvious to me that he wants to be thought of as more then a role-player. You can't blame him he's still young and chasing his own glory.

Funny how so many people here see this guy as a "black hole", because a black hole (singularity), is probably the most powerful force in the Universe. His team-mates, KG especially, absolutely love what Big Baby contributes to this team night in and night out, and allow him the same slumps that every other player in the NBA goes through at times, without being overly critical. I truly respect most of the bloggers here and value their opinions, but when it comes to knowing the truth about the workings of this team, and the value of individual players, I'll have to go with KG, et al.

He basically plays as much with the first team as he does the second, and when he gets the rock down low, regardless of who is surrounding him, they aren't getting the ball.

Besides, Jeff Green is definitely the primary offensive option off the bench now.

I'm sure everyone loves what Rondo brings to the team too. Does that mean we can't criticize his FT shooting? And even if we do, does that make it untrue because KG loves playing with Rondo?

The truth is BBD forces shots down low that usually aren't there. A crowd is around him and somebody is open that he should find. Perk did the same thing. Love both players, but nobody can deny they hog the ball down low.

BBD gets his fair share of love and praise on this blog. He has his own charge counter on the main page for crying out loud...but anybody can see that he hates passing the ball even when there is no room to take a shot...forcing shots is bad. He does it...Perk did it...and both looked bad after doing it.

Baby can take 50 shots per game...If they were all good, quality shots, not in double or triple coverage underneath the rim with barely any room to get the ball up, or shooting 10 feet away from the basket with a guy right in his face, I wouldn't care. Shots out on the perimeter with a guy on you are only for a few guys in this league, ie Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony.  

When Baby is wide open, I don't care if he takes the shot. When he is in single coverage, backing down his defender, I don't care if he takes the shot. When he gets an offensive board and the defense is slow to crash down on him, I don't care if he shoots..He can shoot those shots any day of the week.    

He is the 6th man, and yes, he needs to get his touches...But there's a difference between taking good shots and bad shots & lately, it seems as if he has really, really been forcing.  

Ray Allen is a great shooter and you can say, Ray is a starter and starters tend to get their shots.  Shooting is obviously Ray's strength, but if he is shooting with 2 guys out on him, I don't care how good of a shooter you are, that's a terrible shot.  2 guys on you means there's one guy open somewhere.

i haven't got a problem with babys play lately at all.
He takes it hard and strong to the rim and puts so much pressure on the opposing teams interior defense that it forces them to foul or get out of the way.

True, a lot of it though at times I think has to do with when with the second unit guys not moving or being aggressive and giving it to baby with 5 seconds on the clock not much he could do
