i heard Orlando wants Rasheed. I'm not sure if he wants but i have two questions.

1. If Rasheed sign with other team does we get some exception or something? Is he a free agent now? i don't know what happens with contract when you retire.

2. We are interested in Brewer who i think is a very good player and he will fit well here so if we sign him now how much can we offer next season? Do we have his birds rights or we can offer him only MLE?

Providing a link or notion of where you heard this would be nice.

Eye on 'Sheed
Orlando lost the Troy Murphy sweepstakes.

In a blow to the Magic, the 6-foot-11 power forward/center reportedly decided to sign with the Boston Celtics. Murphy should help the Celtics because he's a good rebounder who can stretch the floor with accurate outside shooting.

With Murphy now unavailable, it wouldn't be surprising if the Magic attempt to lure 6-foot-11 Rasheed Wallace out of retirement. Wallace hasn't played since Game 7 of last June's NBA Finals.

Many Magic players think highly of Wallace.

According to Steven A. Smith on WEEI a couple days ago, Sheed has been thinking about coming back for Orlando throughout the season (just like he has been thinking about coming back for the C's).  I am not sure if thats where this is from.

I don't think Sheed would come out of retirement to join a team he never played on. To me the biggest reason why he could be entertained by the idea of a comeback was that he had familiarity with the Celtics' systems and bonds with the players. So it doesn't make any sense to come back to sign with Orlando and although it's very unlikely I hope it won't happen because it would disappoint me.

We wouldn't receive any compensation.  Rasheed's contract was bought out, making him a free agent.

I don't believe he ever formally filed retirement papers, but if he did the other 29 teams would all have to unanimously agree to let him play this year.  (Under the rules, without league-wide agreement, retired players have to wait one year to play again.)

We wouldn't have Brewer's Bird Rights.  We could give him a 20% raise next year, or the minimum salary, whichever is higher.

Sheed won't cure Orlando's woes.  They can have him for all I'm concerned.

I still don't think he's coming back and if Orlando is pushing for him hard, then that team is in more trouble than I thought.

Trading Gortat (and Pietrus and Lewis) were huge mistakes for them. They are realizing that now. With no real relaible backup for Howard, they are in a bind.

It's funny my greatest focus yesterday on the Murphy signing was not just us geting him, but Miami not getting him.

I completely forgot about the Magic. In retrospect, I think Murphy might have been more of a difference maker on the Magic than on Miami and made them much more dangerous.

Rasheed is completely irrelevant at this point. Knowing him he's probably gained about 50 lbs and hasn't come near a gym in months.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

Yeah I agree, but it sounds like Murphy wasn't pursued by them.

Who knows maybe he just zeroed in on the two front runners out east and never gave them the time of day.

Agreed -- makes no difference. Good luck to them both (Orlando + Sheed).

I'm reading from yesterday that Orlando wants out of retirement to Rasheed.
Oti Smith (general manager of Orlando), is trying to convince us to Rasheed.
Sheed surprise me to see another team, he has to return to the Celtics, Rasheed is a warrior and he wants revenge against the Lakers.
I think that although we have signed with Murphy, we need to Sheed, Murphy is a power forward.
The Big Three have to convince Rasheed for his return.

I hope they get him so that the media and fan base will finally get beyond their fascination with this fat lard of a has-been PF who chucks up way too many threes.  ::)
