This team is loaded with talent. If they pick up their play and play consistent defense, Melo, Amare, and Billups are more then enough to carry them into the playoffs.

I can see them beating Orlando and Chicago in a playoff series.

Chicago isnt a big team, and Knicks have more talent, if they can push the pace their athleticism and speed will give the Bulls problems on the defensive end.

Orlando can be beaten by anyone. Teams have adopted the Celtics strategy vs the Magic. Single covering dwight, letting him get his points, and staying with the shooters. Dwight tops out at 40 points and cant carry them through an entire game, they lose.

Knicks are legit, dont be surprised if they beat the Bulls or the Magic in the playoffs.

Until they learn to play defense (and I wouldn't hold my breath with Mike D'Antoni coaching the team), I don't see them challenging Chicago.

Any team can beat the Magic and the magic can beat any team. All depends on how the shot is falling. This isn't as true with the Bulls.

They could be tough, but don't forget they're just a few games away from their loss to the Cavs.

If you watched the Heat game, you can tell that the potential is certainly there. The Knicks buckled down on defense for the last few minutes while taking the lead and closed out the game with a block from Amare on LeBron where he rotated perfectly from the weak side. Also encouraging to see was Carmelo's one on one defense on James during crunch time. He really made LeBron work for every inch of space and contested every shot.

The Knicks have no problems putting the ball in the hole, and if they can play consistent defense, they will be right up there with us, the Bulls, and the Heat. Let's not forget that Billups used to play for Detroit, one of the better defensive teams of this era.

They can't defend. Stoudemire at the 5, Shawne Williams and Melo at the 4, Anthony Carter and Bill Walker seeing plenty of minutes on the perimeter.

I'm just hoping the Knicks stay down in the 6 seed; they'll give the Heat or Bulls a much harder time than the Hawks would.

And I'm not scared of the current Knicks, but the Knicks with Chris Paul and even a mediocre center terrify me.

I still think they're a first round exit. When the game slows to a half court set in the playoffs, they'll show their true colors.

Right now I think they play better half-court than the D'Antoni crap. But their defense will still get just as exposed, so they're screwed.

With Melo's poor passing, shot forcing and ball stopping tendencies, I think D'Antoni will have to adjust.

The Knicks have a long way before they show themselves to be legit.

Getting a good laugh out of these threads about the Knicks tonight. They are a legit 4-6th place team in the east that might win a round in the playoffs.

Agree, they are second tier team that would have to get really hot to beat us.

That's a better outcome then before their trade. I'm surprised they look this decent so early.

We'll see if they'll hold up. Not sure D'Antoni likes defense enough to let Billups change the dynamic.
