Just got this email from my uncle who like i and my whole family are die hard celt fans. Anyways, here is the email, enjoy :

I received this message from a friend ... and wanted to pass along.  Thought it might be good to share with your team and/or some of your individual players who strive to be leaders.

This is an observation from Phil Galvin, who watched the Celtics work out at the Olympic Club (in SF), the day after the All-Star Game.

Easy to see why the Celts will be challenging for another Championship this season!!

Subject: KG AT THE OC LAST NIGHT

Ok,
So last night something happened in the Sky Gym that was nothing short of one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen at a basketball practice.  The Mighty Celtics were here from 5:30-7:30pm.  It was just as each of you would expect, big time talent, big time effort, they have all the pieces.  About half way through the practice they start to scrimmage.  First team (Rondo, Sugar Ray, Peace, KG, Perkins) vs. the second team.  It’s a battle and these guys are going at it (ie 24 hours after the all star game..it’s no joke).  About half way through that scrimmage Doc Rivers takes KG out and puts someone else in his place.  Instead of going over and getting water, KG goes right over to the sideline at the OC and, as the scrimmage continues, STARTS SPRINTING UP AND DOWN THE SIDELINE like you would if you were running sprints.  He proceeds to do that for like 2 straight minutes (seriously, a dead full sprint), until Doc puts him back into the scrimmage.  As he walks right past me he says under his breath, I hate Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.in’ sitting out Doc, let’s go.

Happy Tuesday.

Kevin Garnett: The last of a dieing breed.

Even at his age, all he cares about is getting better (both as a team and individually). The scrutiny about him is all BS. The guy only cares about winning. He personifies what a real basketball player should be. I'd take 12 KG's on my team any day.

TP for sharing.

Thanks. KG doesn't let up..even in practices...love that about him. Compare this with Mr. Iverson. ;)

BTW, if I were you, I would remove all the email ids and other personal info...just for privacy reasons..and to avoid the spambots too. :)

TP for posting.

Thanks for sharing, (TP) ... some people don't realize that KG is as intense about training and staying in shape, as he is about games ... that's just who the guy is, inside and out, and even in the off-season. Gotta love the guy, and if you don't, it's probably because you're the fan of another team, or an opponent. ;)

Oh my god, that might be the greatest quote of all time after reading that story.

"Oh yeah Doc? You taking me out? Im going to run sprints until you put me back in!"

This is awesome and it shows that KG's intensity is not an act. It is not for show. The guy really is insane.

The true greats do push theirselves.  That is one reason why the bloke in MIA falls a little short when it matters as he is coasting on talent.

Imagine Doc's reaction to this.  For years I've been reading quotes from Doc about how hard it is to take KG out of practice, but I thought he meant more in terms of KG being angry and vocal about it.  But how do you respond to someone sprinting through the time when you wanted him to rest?

Doc: "Alright Kevin, take a blow"

Kevin: (sprints maniacally up and down the court)

Doc: "Seriously, Kev, you need a breather"

Kevin: (sprints faster)

Doc: "Alright, bump it, you might as well go back in then..."

Kevin: "*##!!&*!!!!!"

Doc: (shakes head)

I love Kevin. I wish people would realize how great of a teammate he really is and that's why he does all his pounding of the chest and screaming. He does it to get himself AND his team pumped hell it gets me pumped just watching! Here is to you KG defitnaly the last of a dying breed.
