here's the 2008 Championship roster

20   Ray Allen
42   Tony Allen
93   P.J. Brown
28   Sam Cassell
11   Glen Davis
5   Kevin Garnett
50   Eddie House
43   Kendrick Perkins
34   Paul Pierce
66   Scot Pollard
41   James Posey
0   Leon Powe
13   Gabe Pruitt
9   Rajon Rondo
44   Brian Scalabrine

who's left from that squad?

Rondo, Ray, Paul, KG, & Baby - that's it

I'm pretty sure Rondo will be the last man standing but I wonder who will be the next "kicked off the island" (or that leaves of their own free will)

Baby via Free Agency?
KG via retirement?

anyway, just mind boggling to look at the roster turnover outside the core group

would bet a large chucnk of $ on Baby being next. He'll want a lot more money and a chance to start somewhere... two things Boston wouldn't do.

I agree.  BBD will be the next one gone.  I don't think the recent events have changed that at all.  He walks after this season.

I like to see it as, with hometown discount included, we have $55 million of our championship roster still.

Next one gone is Baby, I'm hoping for a sign and trade.

Someone will offer Baby the MLE. If Jeff Green flourishes in the SF/PF role, the Celtics may decide to part ways.

However, Baby is a valuable piece for us who fits into our system pretty well. That and he is bigtime insurance for KG.

You get the exact same result if you just compare last year's roster to this one.

Rondo
Ray
PP
KG
Perk
Sheed
Baby
Quis
TA
Nate
Scals
Finley
Williams

Only 5 of them left.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think this is a healthy sign though. You want to keep two types of guys: studs and value. We kept all the studs. We rotated through the value guys as rookie deals ended, make good veterans sought a pay day, and "one more time" for the road guys retired, or as Tyson would say faded off to Bolivian.

Value guys get over paid in the NBA, and you have to be willing to move on - such as DA did with Posey and TA to name two guys that I think were overpaid on their way out. Other guys like Scal, House, Brown, and Sam I Am, were just done being useful part of what the C's were doing and moving on made sense. Gabe and Pollard were non-factors.

Leon & Perk are the two that hurt to see happen - file those under the NBA is a cruel business and past results won't get you future paychecks.

I'll co-sign on BBD being next out the door. He's about average NBA talent and provides excellent positional flexibility, but he's gonna want more than the C's will pay. He seems like the guy who always misses the pay day though, so maybe he comes back on another two year make good deal anyways.
