Mike Bibby vs TJ Ford
Who is the better fit for the Celtics?

I think we definitely need another pg on this team since Delonte is just fragile.

I'll pick Mike Bibby.

Neither.

Ford will never hold up through the playoffs.

Bibby can't play defense anymore.

I wouldn't be looking for either to be the "answer" but if I had my choice, I'd take Ford, he's more tenacious and I like the spped and "break down" ability he'd add to the second unit.

We might get alot of easy baskets with him at the point on the second unit.

But honestly , either woud work as insurance

I'll have the hemlock, please.

Honestly would prefer anyone else to either of them. Heck, I'd roll the dice with crazy Rafer Alston first.

Didn't someone post a tweet from Ford that he was going to Miami?  Might not have been on this board, but I definitely read it.

Pierce at point forward would be the best option with green at the SF, baby at PF and Jo/Murphy and Kristic at C..von at SG

Ford. He can't shoot or finish, but he was playing very good defense in Indiana this season. I'd take a couple of D-Leaguers too.

For the Celtics?

I'd say in the case of a Rondo injury, Ford.  He's a better floor general, and he's a lot closer to Rondo's game than Bibby is (although there's obviously a big gap there).

In the case of Rondo staying healthy, definitely Bibby.  We don't ask our backup guards to do much, and Bibby would be a fantastic situational shooter.

Bibby is a CHUCKER. Let Miami have him.

I'd take Ford for many of the reasons enumerated in the posts above: the 3 Ds: Defense, Distributor, Determination (tenacity) and a P (penetration) plus better handle.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Mike Bibby although there is the whole calling Celtics fans bandwagoners thing. I think having someone who plays a different style from Rondo coming off the bench would be great. TJ Ford isn't a bad second option either though.

If you lok at the bench model from the beginning of the season, where Nate was the primary backup PG and Delonte the primary off guard, then getting Bibby would be a major upgrade over NATE considering the way Nate was shooting all year.

BUT...

Von Wafer has come on of late and I think he might be serviceable to finish the season as the primary backup off guard.

So the question to me...

Is Bibby/Delonte better than Delonte/Wafer?

Im not so sure that it is considering Bibby is such a poor defender now.

Bring Bibby in if he is happy playing behind Wafer and being Delonte insurance. If not, I say let him go to Miami.

TJ Ford (Bibby is basically a poor man's Delonte at this point).  But I don't think either of them are coming to the C's.  There are better opportunities for them to play on other contenders.

So, if the Celtic's do end up needing a point guard, who would you suggest then?
