well...

i'm just going to jump in and say it...

it's not exactly a news flash...

i think at some point DA will get acknowledged as a genius and innovator...

bringing the Big 3 together...PP, KG and RA...

has transformed the landscape of the NBA...

do i have to mention the dreaded Heatles...

on top of that every team in the nba is now trying to duplicate this...

chi...rose, noah, boozer...

ny...amare, carmelo and maybe CP3

nj...will try to pull off the same with deron

flakers...kobe, gasol and bynum/odum...

okc...durant, westbrook and perk...

had to throw that in...

sa...duncan, parker and ginobli...

this is where i digress...

sa actually pulled this off first...

but...

not in such a dramatic manner...

i do no think sa intended to put their big 3 together...

and...

that is why DA is the innovator...

teams are INTENTIONALLY putting their big 3's together...

and...

in dramatic fashion...

and...

when we look back at his body of work...

drafts, trades, stockpiling assets, etc...

but...

most importantly...

the guts to pull it all off

ala...

that guy named Bill down the road...

Man, your posts are hard to read. Your first lines were nice, but couldn't keep up with the rest.

I agree, but unlike the Heat and Knicks, Ainge kept two key guys in Perk and Rondo, one of which is a future HOF player, on the team when putting together the big three. He then added great role players like Posey and House, not just scrubs, and has had the foresight to keep adjusting the team as needed by ditching House and Posey when no longer useful and getting guys like Shaq, Dwest, and now Green and Kristic.

Lakers put a big four together well before Danny put together a big three -- Shaq, Kobe, Malone and Payton.

that was no big 4, that was a train wreck of two feuding all-stars and two guys ready for retirement

The concept was the same exact idea that Danny had -- just saying. Remember, Ray was coming off double ankle surgery and no one had any idea how well he was going to recover. I just think it is going overboard by a bit to think that DA invented this concept.

I think you need to replicate it or do it again in another fashion to become a genius. I'm not too sure if getting three star players on the same team can make one an innovator?

i think the difference between what DA did and what the flakers did was that DA's moves actually created a trend...but....not only a trend...an almost immediate trend...a trend of almost desperation by other teams trying to duplicate what DA did ...but...most importantly...the intentionality of DA's moves...he set a new course and a new path by which other teams are trying to duplicate and tweak in their own ways...no one really tried to duplicate what the flakers did...

DA for president in 2012? He makes cold, hard and calculating moves. :P

Bird, McHale, Parish came first, I think. ;)

But yeah, our recent "big three" seems to be the first of the modern day "super friends" teams.

Let me just say that while other teams may be trying to replicate the concept of grouping stars together, the Heat and Knicks and any other team are not of the same fabric and quality as this Celtics team. Our stars are classy, selfless, and they all gave up their egos to make this work as a team and keep everyone involved. I really don't see that happening with the Heat or Knicks unless they get wiser with age. Wade, Lebron, Amare, and Carmelo are all ball hogs who take tons of shots every game and the same could never be said of Pierce, Allen, or Garnett. Not to mention the fact that the Heat players had colluded about forming that team way before it transpired. To me that's a clear cut reason to be a proud Celtic fan and why this team is deserving of the championship year in and year out. Basketball is a team sport and the Celtics exemplify that at the highest level.

If it wasn't for Danny Ainge, the movie Expendables wouldn't have been made either.

What about Cousy, Havlicek and Russell?

Is it possible that the statement that Danny Ainge was the first person to think about putting 3 good basketball players on a team is completely asinine?
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.
