Ha.  Rick Pitino and Chris Wallace are equally geniuses, then.  Rick picked Jerome Moiso in the first round, and Wallace traded him for a #1.  That #1 was converted into Perk (in a draft day trade).

So, kudos to Rick Pitino.  He turned the #10 in an extremely weak draft into Ray Allen, BBD, Krstic, Green, West, and a #1 (still not really understanding the logic, but I'm running with it.)  If we win a championship, we should buy that man a beer.  Wallace, too.

Okay. I'll gladly buy Rick and Chris each a beer. Maybe two.

As much as we all hate Rick and most of us dislike Chris, it would probably be fun to drink some beer with them.

that's silly, if you can't see what we are talking about, I don't know what to tell you

It's no more silly than saying that Perk was traded for Ray Allen, is it?  By the logic of this thread, without Pitino and Wallace, we'd have never had Ray Allen or any of the other pieces being discussed.  So, if Danny gets props, so do Rick and Chris, I say.

well yea it is pretty much Perk for Ray allen considering the 2 biggest pieces that sea/okc got in that trade for Ray are on the c's roster along with Ray Allen.

obviously it wasn't some master plan by ainge over a 4 year period, but you can't deny the fact that he now has the 2 biggest pieces he traded away for ray allen back in a c's uniform...

And they are probably in better shape than they would have been, playing off the bench behind the big 3. Well maybe Delonte would have thrived in green(and we wouldn't have had so much drama over Nate as a pg), but he has gotten some valuable experience and maybe appreciates being a Celtic a bit more. Green has been a starter and the captain in a great organization, and he could be ready for anything.

fine, you guys have fun getting some drinks with pitino but remember the buddy system.  and even if the bar owner "allows" pitino to close the store, its time to go. nothing good happens after closing time.

While, I don't agree with the premise of this post.  I don't think you can credit Pitino for those moves because he wasn't at the helm when they happened.  Pitino would not have made those moves anyways.  He clung to his "system", although fine in college, doesn't quite cut the mustard for the pros.  Chris Wallace gave away Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown nothing too.  That has to shoot him down for eternity as a genius.  I also don't think he did his due deligence on OJ Mayo.

I also think getting KG was more important than getting Ray Allen in terms of the title.  But that is another can of worms.  I know some of the comments were tongue in cheek but overall silly.

Firmly tongue-in-cheek on my part.  Still, playing the "what if" game, if Pitino doesn't take Moiso, and Wallace doesn't (brilliantly) extract a #1 for him from Philadelphia, then we probably wouldn't have had Perk.

Delonte West and Jeff Green can't be included since they both were used in both sides of the equation....they would be canceled out.  Just like balancing your old chemistry equations.

I made a similar thread a few days ago and the trade works out to

Bos sends: Perk, Nate, Biil Walker, Eddie House , Wally

Bos gets: Ray Allen, BBD ,Kristic, Green, West, Clips first rd pick

Danny owns the league !

It should be :

Perk, Nate, Walker, Eddie House, Wally for Ray Allen, BBD, Kristic, Clips 1st....

West and Green were used on BOTH sides ie.. as if we never traded them in the 1st place.   And besides West was signed as a free agent and was not acquired back via trade.

I think Nate and Eddie are redundant this way, since they were traded for each other.

If thats the case then the equation needs to be fixed yet again.  It just proves that this post is just nonsense.

Celtics have traded Kendrick Perkins.  Here is what they've received in exchange (if you combine the moves that got us where we are today starting in 2007).

In exchange for Kendrick, the C's essentially got:

Ray Allen
Nenad Krstic
Clippers 1st round pick in 2012
Jeff Green & Delonte West (who were part of the original Ray Allen trade)

Pretty good work by Danny, no?

---------------

Michael Smith, the Clippers announcer, said essentially the same thing last night on the NBA tv telecast.

Great trade. Better team overall, upgraded Semih and the bench, and got younger to boot. Plus a solid 1st rounder for a future addition is in the mix. Not only a great move, but smart.

All of this for Perkins who is coming off a major knee injury, declined a fair contract offer from the C's, and is currently hurt do to a normal play in the GS game.

Of course it's nonsense. It's just fun talk the morning after a Celtics win.

But if I catch Rick and Chris at a bar, I WILL buy them a couple.

Not purely logical. But I'm going with it and if those knuckleheads at ESPN don't buy it even better. Yes it was a tough trade. Yes it will take some time to get used to. But Perk is moving on and so should we.

Great to see Delonte and jeff G in Green!

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I understand the premise behind this thread, and it's interesting to see, but it's turning into the "seven degrees of Kendrick Perkins"...
