let me preface this by saying i know we are all die-hard fans with our opinions but let's also face reality and admit that we are not even close to having the expertise that DA and Doc have...we would be fooling ourselves if we thought we did...secondly they are privy to a lot more information than we will ever be...point in fact...perk is out 2 to 3 weeks...you can't bash the o'neals for their injury problems and in the same breath say don't worry that perk is only out for 2 to 3 weeks...you can't have your cake and eat it too...even if your of the mindset that the window for banner #18 is now and this year...which leads me to krstic and frank...we would all like to base our opinions by looking at statistics and the various assorted metric systems...well...guess what...frank coached krstic for 4 years in nj...i'm sure frank knows exactly what we are getting with krstic and had a lot of input on the trade and how he would fit in offensively and defensively...so when you combine the uncertainty of perk as a FA with the uncertainty of perk's knees and health with frank's knowledge of krstic with #1 pick from clippers...i think you have to defer to DA and Doc...maybe it's In DA we trust...like you know who...it might not be too far-fetched...remember the big 3 would have never become the big 4 without DA setting everything up with the ratliff, telfair trade which DA parlayed into KG...you have to give this trade time to develop...

If Krstic performed like he did pre-injury in NJ, this trade would never have happened, he would not be available as a throw in. He is not the same player, but still has some skills, enough to eat up minutes before the two O'Neals come back for the stretch run.

Given all the contract realities, I'm already liking this trade. As much as I loved Powe, I'll be disappointed however if he's brought back as some sort of good-will mascot.  I like the coolly calculating Danny better than the appease-the-owners Danny.

Danny did not create roster space in moving 3 players (semih, luke and mqd) to make room for a mascot. If Powe signs with us, it will be because management (doc and danny) believe he can contribute. While he does not give us the size we would need to beat the Lakers, we need to beat others to get in the finals, where his toughness on the boards could really help, and who knows, we may not even meet the Lakers in the finals.

Don't forget how well Powe played against big teams when he was with us.. granted the Lakers didn't have Bynum then, but while it seems like sometimes BBD is good at playing smaller than his size, I think Powe plays bigger than his size.

Having listened to Pags on the radio, sounds to me like the owners are already appeased with the move of Perkins.

And I don't think they'd bring in Powe to try to slow down the suicide rate in Boston post-Perkins deal. If they bring him in, I'll give it a chance. Have my doubts that Powe's got anything left in the knees, but it won't hurt to see as long as they've got another big on the hook.
