Rajon Rondo and Delonte West and Avery Bradley (who is not ready but he's on the team and good for a few defensive possesions)  What is all this Mike Bibby and TJ Ford talk?  What do we need THEM for?

For the first time in years our PG rotation is set.  If anything we need another 2/3 perhaps to play in front of or behind Von Wafer, but what do we need a PG for?  West can run the offense very well from what I could see.  A big and a wing (and Powe for insurance I guess) and we're done.

I'd think it would be great to get a vet pg to play behind Rondo in the event that Delonte gets another injury. I'm not real keen on Rondo playing 45 minutes a game to keep Bradley's time on the court at a minimum during the playoffs.

Well, I think there's a bit of a reversal going, on, or rather a reconsideration of the gamble that injury-prone players can be counted on at any time, including playoffs.  West is an injury risk, and that risk needs to be insured by having a capable backup.  Bradley doesn't fit that role yet, and Quisy is gone.

Because stuff happens and Delonte West is injury prone.

I think Boston needs a 3rd stringer. Not someone to play - Rondo and West have that covered. But just in case one of them can't go.

Bradley isn't a PG. Never was. May develop into a combo guard - never a true PG - but needs some time. I've known him since high-school and he's always been a pure 2. Not even a combo, but a straight up 2. Boston should have a 3rd string PG with better on-the-ball skills than Bradley.

beat me to it -- summed it up nicely.  Rondo takes a beating on the court and Delonte seems to always pick up freak injuries.  I don't want to be relying on AB for any playing time in the playoffs

I agree with OP, PG is on the bottom of my list. Rondo and D West, short stints of AB, occasionally let PP and RA bring up the rock, we are set. No need unless a really good one (e.g., Bibby) fell into our laps.

If they get Mike Bibby then I hope you guys who live in Boston give him a little heck for all the stuff he said a few years ago about Celtic fans.

D. West has been injured all season.

Because we do.

West might be a upgrade ball handler over Eddie House last year and Nate Robinson this year, still isnt the best ball handler and really does a terrible job running the offense. He is much better suited for the 2 slot even if he is a little smaller than most at the position. Bradley isnt ready to get steady minutes yet. I honestly wouldn't mind Bibby taking a position on the roster, at least he can move the ball and run a steady offense.

Bibby is a chucker. I hope the Heat get him and he screws them all up.
Ford I would take as he is more a penetrator/facilitator.

WE need a decent backup with a good handle for three reasons, two of which have been mentioned above.

1. DWest is injury prone.
2. Even when he isn't injured, he can stillonly go to his left with confidence and so only has half a handle.
3. DWest at the 2 with TJ Ford or someone else with a good handle at the one is a real good option to have and insurance in case DWest goes down.

You can only dress 12 and I figure if everyone is healthy, our ideal lineup is:

Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Garnett
BBD
West
Green
Krstic
Shaq
Jermaine
Wafer
_lastbuyout_ (preferred option is Murphy)

TJ and Bibby want playing time and they won't get it in Boston.

So, this is my question regarding playoffs.  I actually had already laid out the same list of 11 players for our playoff roster and left Bradley off:

Rondo/West
Ray/Wafer
Pierce/Green
KG/Baby
Shaq/JO/Krstic

Now, all the talk is about signing 3 buyouts.  Ummm... that means only 1 of them make the playoff roster.  Presumably, a veteran buyout who signs with us signing on that way he can play for a championship team?  But those 3 vets are going to compete for 1 remaining roster spot on a playoff team?  Is this going to be a concern for buyout candidates?

No. Roster size rules don’t change for the playoffs. Same rules as the regular season. The roster must have 13, 14, or 15 players at all times. No more than 12 can dress for any game, and that decsion can come as late as an hour before game time.
