That is the implication of this article, which refers to Bulpett article.

http://celticshub.com/2011/02/26/bulpett-cs-stars-were-consulted-and-aligned-about-trading-kendrick-perkins/

Seems awfully speculative, but hey, that is what blogs are for:  To speculate and spread rumors!!

Spears from Yahoo sports today on the Sportshub laughed at this story and said there is no way they pre-approved the trade.

Wojnarowski, who was first to report this trade, had a completely different story to tell.

I could see it happening either way.  Regardless of whether the big 3 knew ahead of time or not, they would still be sad to see Perk go in either case.

Frankly, I would be quite shocked if Danny did not at least float the idea by the fellas, maybe not Rondo, but at least Kevin, Paul and Ray.  He knew the importance of the team buying in, and just can't see him pulling trigger without at least "consulting" them. I mean, come on, do any of us really believe none of the Big 3 knew the trade was going down before it was announced? Really??

Okay, I hear you. I have no proof, and would certainly understand why the organization would never want it to leak out. But before a long time starter is traded away in any organization, especially the NBA, the star(s) are usually consulted, if not asked to bless the move in advance.  Why is this any different?

I'm pretty sure Doc and Danny publicly stated they asked the vets about Shaq before signing him.  So this trade scenario is not a whole lot different.

You have to realize for KG and Ray this may be it with a lockout looming.  While Pierce has more rubber left on his tires the C's may drop out of the top contender pool for the rest of his career. They would support the move that brings them 18 and 2.

In Perk you have a guy we haven't needed to win all year long, an uncertain health status, didn't want to extend his contract, and we fill our biggest need with a guy with all star potential.

The decision isn't for them to approve or disapprove.

What was so remarkable about the trade is that there wasn't even an inkling of a rumor of it.

Based on that and the obvious emotions showed by Garnett and Pierce it appeared that they were as blindsided by the trade as we were.

Where did you get that idea from? I don't think that's correct.

I agree. This was a difficult decision and a bold move. Most people do not have it in them to make unpopular decisions. Consulting the players on a difficult move like this is just setting the stage for making a move that the players already expressed they were against.

After the shock subsides, it will be back to business as usually as the guys learn to appreciate what the new additions bring to the team.

If Danny were to consult any player it should be Rondo. Doc frequently states that he's the smartest player he's ever coached and seems to think Rajon has the best basketball mind.

Danny Ainge doesn't have to consult anyone.

He's the boss.

If they had any inkling whatsoever then I think the Oscars need to make a last second addition of KG for best actor in a leading role and PP for best supporting actor

No chance.  They were brothers.  They shared that bond for over 3 years.

I highly doubt they even post-approve the trade.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
