I am still digesting this trade.  Perk was one of my favorite.  He personified the character of the team.  I know Perk isn’t much as compared to the great ones, but man it hurts to see him go.
 
I hear rumbles about Troy Murphy and others.  I am not even sure Troy is a starter where he is at, so forgive me for not being all that excited about TMurphy.

I can only hope that KPerkins don’t end up in Miami next season.

There's nothing wrong with that. You have to measure if what the improvement on the wing brings to the team is larger than what is lost with the lesser center rotation.

Perkins + Shaq + O'Neal + Baby + Erden
vs.
Shaq + O'Neal + Baby + Garnett + Krstic

I think that if the O'Neals can play, the current situation is an improvement relatively to the status-quo ante.

Basically, Perkins presence offered diminishing returns and there was a glaring hole in the wing rotation plus the absence of a small-ball line-up.

I don't think there's really another shoe to drop. Even if Murphy joins, I think the only way it matters is if there are injuries.

Even as a stout defender of the trades here, I think much must happen for this trade to help us.  I think we need to get lucky in the buyout  sweepstakes and the O'Neal lads need to come back and able to play.

Perk will be missed.   I still think management saw something that scared them for them to bust this up.  Be it the recent scoring trend of Centers against Perk, the winning percentages without him, lack of mobility, possibility of free agency or the looming spectre of another knee injury something convinced Danny to let him go.  Danny also seems to know that the Murphy buy out will happen and that he would come here otherwise the roster clearing was not neccessary.

Funny thing is if he had walked after the season then the same poeople here bemoaning the trade would be lashing out at Danny for not trading him and getting something, I would bet....

NY and Miami both need a starting C.  Both can offer more minutes on teams that are media darlings.

We traded our starting center for a backup wing who can start and a backup/third string center who can hit jump shots and free throws.  We traded a guard who has been really bad lately for a first round draft pick from the clippers who don't look like they'll make the playoffs.
Green off the bench is a huge jump, guy that can play like posey but he's YOUNG and more athletic.  I like perk but our record this year has little to do with his play.  I would always welcome him to team but danny did do imo a good trade.

Sure these is still uncertainty so I agree that we have to wait till we know what happens with Murphy.

But honestly Murphy is more of a regular season replacement than anything, in the playoffs the center minutes will be divided between Shaq and Jermaine (and Baby). The thing is, signing Murphy would help us to keep the O'Neal brothers fresh for the playoffs so it's important and useful but not crucial either.

Also, you might want to add the words "and perhaps never to be physically whole again" between the words 'semi-good' and 'defensive'.
