...we gave up Erden and Harangody for the Cavaliers 2013 second round draft pick. Call me an optimist but given the complete and utter suckitude in Cleveland, I just don't see them becoming very good anytime in the next 2 years, especially given the poor top level talent coming out of the college level the next couple of years. This pick could be around 31-33 and that's a steal for Erden and Harangody who I think could both be out of the league by the time the C's make that 2nd round pick.
...Marquis Daniels was not going to come back and do anything this year given his injury. Dumping him for some cash to open a roster spot and use that cash to sign a Troy Murphy or Jason Kapono or Marcus Camby or anyone else that might be bought out is a net plus in my book. Daniels was going to provide nothing, now maybe the C's get someone who can provide something. Maybe even a win in the playoffs. Let's face it, that's all we got for Eddie House last year, one Nate Robinson inspired win in the playoffs.
...Let's please cease and desist with the Sheed talk. That's not happening. I have a better chance of landing a romantic date with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson(and I'm not gay and neither is he) than Sheed does of ever coming back to the Celtics.
...In Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan(really starting to make that JR Giddens pick look monumentally stupid), Mo Williams, Chris Kaman, and cap space, it's not completely out of the question that the Clippers could sneak into the 8th playoff spot in a seriously, talent-depleted Western Conference in 2011-2012 and give the Celtics the number 15 or 16 pick in the 2012. Hey, it could happen.
...Still scratching my head on the Dragic/Brooks trade. I mean I know Brooks had fallen out of favor in Houston and Kyle Lowery is the man there so he had to go, but from the Phoenix perspective, you gave up a [dang] good back up PG and a first round pick for a [dang] good back up PG?? Makes no sense to me as Nash is signed through next year and is still going to be playing big minutes.
...The Perk trade came down to this, the Celtics were going to keep either Perk or Baby at the end of this year. The new CBA is going to change the landscape of what you pay for non-superstar players. Perk had already priced himself out of what was fiscally viable for the Celtics to pay in a new CBA atmosphere AND he had shown that he was one dimensional and injury prone. Baby is a two way player with a multitude of skills and except for punching out his friend and breaking his hand, has been 100% healthy otherwise. Ainge made his decision to sign Baby and get what he could for Perk since he knew he would never sign him. In that regard, it was a brilliant trade. Well, that is, if they actually do re-sign Baby.
...The Rockets got last year's number 2 pick in the draft(Thabeet), Memphis' first rounder this year and DeMarre Carroll for Shane Battier. Just a tremendous deal for Houston. Battier is going to end up being a bench player in Memphis at the SF slot or start at the SG spot and struggle as he just can't guard that position anymore. Gay, Mayo, Battier, Allen, Young, Henry, and Carney. Anyone think the Griz have enough wing players?
...List of star players that have come east recently: Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Deron Williams, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer. List of star players that have gone west recently: Gerald Wallace.
