After the trade deadline - which team will come out of the Western Conference?

SA

OKC

Who do you think?

To be completely honest, the Thunder are looking pretty darn good right now.

Still think it's LA.

I wouldn't even put Portland in the discussion.  Dallas should be among those teams, though.

why not portland....they are solid 1-5 with G Wallace starting and they have a solid bench?

I'm not sold with LA making it to the Conference Finals this year.

As it looks now.. San Antonio. They have been playing extremely well so far in the regular season, and I think they can up their level a notch or two, especially defensively. In the games I've seen them play they have been limiting the minutes of Duncan, Manu and Parker quite a bit, which just makes their record even more scary.

Even with someone who's very battle tested in Perk, I don't think OKC are ready just yet - but they definitely became one of the major winners at the deadline. I doubt they'd be able to go through either Dallas, San Antonio or the Lakers with their rather two-dimensional offense. Outside of Westbrook and Durant they don't have much that I'd be afraid of.

Portland isn't in the 'contenders' conversation.

Not with Roy a shell of his former self....not enough shooting. Too many doubles on Aldridge. Good defensive team though if Camby is healthy. Still dont think they are good enough.

Take an injury riddled player and put him on a team, notoriously known for having injured players. It's terribly tragicomic, and I have a lot of sympathy for Portland, but I'm certain their starting five (based on talent) will not see the light of day in the playoffs.

Also.. They are 32-25, not exactly looking as if they're going to end in the top 4, meaning they'll have a brutal way to eventually reach the WCF or finals..

Lakers will always be the most dangerous.

The answer is the Spurs. The Lakers really needed a splash. Actually they needed Gerald Wallace. That team needed some energy and they stood pat.

OKC is a mystery but I can see them knocking off the Lakers.

The Spurs remain healthy and therefor remain the favorites.

Roy's playing on a knee that's he;d together by rice paper.  Camby is iffy at best.  I know they've played well without them, but I've got to believe they're hard to rely on as part of the depth referred to.

I think the Lakers are still the favorites, but I don't think they are anywhere near invincible.  OKC was borderline in the conversation before they traded for Perk.  I now like their chances and will certainly be rooting for the them to pull a significant upset and get to the NBA finals.

The Oklahoma City Thunder sent away one of the more popular players on the team but the move needed to be done. This is Oklahoma City's way of telling the nation they are ready to win now.
