Green + Rondo = our future

I hope there is a top 5 player added to that group in the future or I see a lot of 5-7 seed playoff teams.

If we're going to contend we need to hit a big time talent after KG/Ray expire, that hasn't changed.

If we can do that while keeping green that would be a big step forward to having a contending core.

I agree, he makes for a nice role player if they can add stars around Rondo.

But I think the same thing about Perk, West, Davis ...

Green + Rondo = our future

yeah but why wasn't it:

Durant + Westbrook + Green = OKCs future

All I know about Green is that he was terrible in the Lakers series last year and if he had played just a little bit better OKC might have knocked them off.

shrinking in the playoffs is not a great place to start if you want to contribute to our success.

Durant and Green are both SFs.

He was asked to guard Pau Gasol for big minutes that series, he's a SF not a PF. Pierce probably wouldn't look good at PF against the Lakers either.

I don't necessarily think all-star with Green. But he could easily be as good as Tayshaun Prince.

I think he can be your third guy at the SF position, Perkins was more limited. Especially since we'd need a mobile PF to pair with him.

they played him at SF in that series too though...

Pierce might not have been able to guard Gasol but he would have torched him on the offensive end.

Green was awful in that series....there's no getting around it. He could not elevate his game the way you need to in the playoffs.

They didn't play him at SF very much at all.

Kevin Durant played 38 minutes a game, and Jeff Green played 37 minutes a game (two highest totals for the team)

Jeff Green got around 5-8 minutes at the SF position each game. So he was guarding Gasol and Odom an awful lot.

Young player in his first playoff series, I wonder how many excel in that? Not many. Not even Kevin Durant played well. In fact, he was horrible.

On the decisive game he played very good though, Jeff Green.

Odom should not be a bad match up for Green...anyway, he was just bad in that series.

He was bad in that series, but as Bud points out so was Kevin Durant (by his standards) But its hard for me to kill a player who's playing better players (Gasol/Odom are both better) out of position during his first taste of the playoffs.

I hope you're right Bud. Time will tell obviously, but he should be better this year if experience was the problem...

Fair enough, but again Odom should not be a bad matchup for Green...

I also don't like reports that OKC fans/analysts aren't too upset to see him go...

Odom didn't have a good series against the Thunder though.

7.8 PPG, 6.38 RPG and he had serious foul trouble during three of those games. He also only got to the line 7 times during the series and shot 41% FG% and had a TS% of .460
