Is Perk signing an extension with OKC?

Sorry if someone's asked this in one of the previous threads... but is OKC locking up Perk with an extension or is he still planning on testing free agency this summer? I'm not reading anything about him getting an extension. 

We offered him 4 years 22 mil? Isn't that less than the MLE?

There are a ton of teams who would LOVE perk... NY and Miami come to mind.  He would be a great fit on either of those teams, but I don't think either could offer him more than the MLE.  Who could overpay him if he doesn't sign an extension?...

Hypothetical... Perk underwhelms in OKC... does he end up taking a MLE contract from Boston/Miami/NY?

we offered him the max that we could offer under the current CBO and he turned it down, so there is no way he signs it with OKC. He will be an unrestricted FA this summer.

I could see them letting Perk walk if he struggles, they will have a ton of cap room to go after Dwight in 2012 if they don't sign a bunch of long term contracts .

I do think they will resign him though, especially if they make a deep playoff run. He will probably get 4 years /30 mil , more than the MLE  Mia or NY can offer him.

Perk won't sign the extension; it's still a low-ball offer.  He's pretty much forced to enter free agency, which is an unfortunate bi-product of current CBA rules.  In my opinion, if a team is going to have Bird rights, they should be able to extend a player for an amount up to a max contract.  Unfortunately, that's not currently the case.

Anyway, I think Perk will re-sign in OKC, because he's a great fit there.  I can't see a scenario where he accepts an MLE deal, because I think OKC would trump that.  Still, Miami especially would be a great fit for him.  (Um, Boston, too.)

Reports say he wants 4 years at 30 mil... Thats easily an acceptable number and it doesnt makes sense for us to not offer that in the offseason... Dumb dumb dumb idea.

I'm hearing about this "maximum" that we could offer Perk and it seems pretty low.  How did Joakim Noah just sign a huge 5 yr/60 mil contract extension, but we couldn't offer Perk that (not that I would)?

The max extension value is based off of the increase from year to year. There is a maximum amount you and increase.

I see what you are saying, but I am OK with the rule. It is still the same contract, and there is a maximum increase from year to year in a contract.

So how did Noah's salary just increase from 3 million to 10 million with his extension?  Yet Perk makes 4.3 million, so I would think could extend to more than 10 million if Noah could??

You can extend a rookie-scale contract for up to the maximum.  Noah is on a rookie-scale contract.  Perkins isn't.

   I thought I read somewhere today that Danny offered to extend Perk (4 year, $22M) and Perk wanted about twice that much.

You can extend a rookie-scale contract for up to the maximum.  Noah is on a rookie-scale contract.  Perkins isn't.

Right, and this applies During the contract. This offseason, as a free agent once his contract expired, and more specifically as a bird rights free agent, the C's could have extended him for anything up to the maximum salary. But because he was on a regular vet (non rookie) contract, there were limitations on how much he could earn via an extension of his existing contract.
