nate robinson on Perk's reaction today:

“He’s taking it pretty hard because he’s been here eight years,” Robinson just said while checking out of the team hotel in Denver. “He was very emotional, crying. He has to move his family, and he’s been really tight with Rondo and other guys on the team. "

that comment breaks my heart - what will become of this team's will and chemistry, which i have considered to be their greatest strength. i saw these Celtics as the hungriest team in the league this year, feeding together off the pain of the game 7 loss. and i know very well that given similar levels of talent that hunger and a desire & will to win usually determines the who takes a playoff series. i would go so far as to say that this group of Celtics was desperate to avenge last year - they need this title more than anybody else in the league .............. that is a huge advantage. Danny might have just gutted that cumulative desire because i think Perk hurt more than anybody because he had to miss the last game.

Yes, it stinks to lose a guy like Perk, who I love dearly and am torn on this trade, especially for his teamates, but to say that guys like KG, PP, Rondo et al aren't competitors themselves and this will ruin them is a bit much. They aren't fools and know how the NBA works, and to say that this guts the team sells all those guys who are still there, and the maniacal competitiveness they have exhibited throughout their years playing this game, incredibly short.

These trade absolutely sucks so far. Perkins by himself is worth Green, Kristic, and A Clippers unprotected pick. Especially considering how much OKC needed a legit center. I don't see why we couldn't at the very least squeeze more out of them. The Semih and Harangody for Clevelands second rounder doesn't make sense since we need some healthy bodies at the 5. If it wasn't for losing Perk it would be a fair deal considering the 2nd rounder will almost definitely be the first pick of the second round. Trading Daniels for cash is fine with me since it seems he's going to be done for the season. I'm going to assume Danny knows a lot more than we do because right now these moves combined look stupid.

LOL, thanks for the laugh. In what universe does a UFA Defensive center command that much?

Kristic sucks, Green isn't a true starting player, and for how much Perk will be worth to the Thunder he's worth more. And I'm sorry but I don't believe Green is the best player in this deal.

I'd love to be proven wrong on all counts, but I don't think I will be.

I think Green could be a starter if he played his natural position.  We'll see.

This is actually a problem I haven't seen brought up yet.  Green is a SF, and can spend some (but not all) time at the four.  The Celtics kinda got those spots locked up with PP and KG.  Green may be happy being a backup this year, but why would he want to sign an extension to be a backup to Pierce for the next THREE seasons????  He could maybe start at the four, but you'd need a bruising center to compensate for his lack of size and rebounding.

Who would fill that role?  Maybe a guy like Kendrick freaking Perkins!

I'm so depressed.   :-[

I still can't believe we traded Perk  :'(.  Let's hope it works Danny, except I'm not buying this small ball talk about how we were missing that from when we lost Posey.

Sorry Doc and Danny LA didn't have as much height then with Bynum out.  I don't buy that working against LA with Bynum there.

2012

PG: Rondo
SG: Ray
SF: PP
PF: Green
 C: Howard

Green can definitely play PF next to Howard, I honestly think this has a pretty good chance of happening...

We're not going to get that smiling, not funny, idiot Howard. I wish people would stop saying it.

Yeah, I agree, I think Green is a solid starter at SF.
