The Cs will need to be very cautious with this injury.  Knee bruises and MCL strains are minor in and off themselves, but put them on a player coming back from a MCL/ACL tear on the other knee and it opens up that player to all kinds of overcompensation injuries, the exact kind of injuries that often derail otherwise successful comeback attempts.  I'd sit down Perk until he was pain-free and 100% healthy.

The Cs have been pretty flippant in the way they brought back Perk and ignored his minutes limitations from almost Day 1.  That said, this injury occurred because Curry kneed him in the knee, so I don't think it's related to his overuse.  Of course, going forward they need to extra-cautious about overusing Perk, especially in the regular season.
Folly. Persist.

this is what happens when you rush players back from injury. They were put in a tough positions because of injuries, but Perk originally wasn't supposed to come back  until march . You can easily hurt something else if you are trying to take any stress off one leg and put it on the other.

This plus the rushing back of delonte really has me scratching my head about the C's medical staff.

Add in the JO signing and the medical staff looks like they are doing a horrible job.

No none of what you said is true.  His knee was banged by another players knee.

It shouldn't have you scratching their head they are trying to win a ship.

How long do these things take to heal and what part of the knee is it actually?

ACL is the worst with MCL being? Or is it the opposite?

start baby at center and trade for Posey plus one of McRoberts/Hansborough (not because they're good, but because they're okay with good motor to back up KG.

it's not torn, so it can't be that bad, but as Salmon and mashed potatoes said, he should sit out until he's 100%. I'd say a few weeks. At the moment, we have a jet-lagged, injured, and distracted rookie in Semih as our only center. That's rough!

Its a fine line though where do you draw it, what do we put him on the shelf with little play time, and in the playoffs have him rusty and out of game shape, no lift etc? thats not going to get it done

This should put a damper on all the "trade Semih for a small forward" posts...
It'll be the return of the "sign Sheed" posts though.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

This has nothing to do with Perkins though correct?  I mean you aren't saying to replace Perk?

Wonder how long Perk will be out. Is it possible this injury could be season ending?

As soon as Semih comes back, Perk goes down.

Is it not possible to have more then 1 available center at a time?

No, just get some bodies that probably won't break while hoping for some future health from Perk, Shaq, Erden and maybe even J.O.

every time I think about our centers, I picture JO leisurely riding an exercise bike in Waltham and collecting $$

Again, this has nothing to do with Perkins coming back when he did or playing the minutes he has been playing. His knee hit Curry's. Had he been playing all year and healthy, that injury would still have happened, and he'd probably miss the same amount of time. If it's a minor MCL strain, I wouldn't be too worried. Resting him for the rest of the trip should take care of it.

Am I wrong but I thought it was his left knee he banged up and his right that was injured last year. I don't see what rushing him back or too many minutes have to do with that. The celtics have just been unlucky when it comes to injuries this year.
