This isn't little league folks or Pop Warner.  It's the NBA most of these guys think they are the best thing since sliced bread.  If they did not they would not be in the league.  NBA ballers are confident for the most part and good ballplayer often have attitude.

I think the best ballers have attitude.  They like making people look bad.  It's why LeBron doesn't fulfill his potential.  He isn't like this really as long as he gets his stats.  But Paul definitely has it, Kobe has it.  Larry had it and MJ has it.  They liked exerting their dominance on the court.

Did he really say this?? Is there a link?   :o

I hope its not true. I don't like this attitude. One thing to be cocky and confident, but its another thing to be an a**hole. Unnecessary and if we would have lost, the backlash would have been huge.

No reason for a team whose gotten beaten by the Cavaliers and the Wizards and the Raptors to even utter such nonsense. Yes we're elite but we're not unbeatable.

You and I may be the only ones on this board that don't love it.  Everyone else seems to be cheering him on.  I wonder if we've become a nation of jerks.

Yeah, I can't believe athletes and fans have suddenly become cocky this generation.  What would Larry Bird think about such ungentlemanly conduct by someone wearing the green?  ::)

Ray's absolutely right - we're much, much better than the Warriors and shouldn't have trouble beating them.  I'm sure he was a bit frustrated too as the Big 3 had never won in Oakland until last night.

And as for the backlash if we'd lost - there'd've been a little, but then everyone would've forgotten about it after Carmelo arrived in New York or LeBron announced he'd taken the best dump in league history or whatever else the next story down the pipe happened to be.

anyone find video of this? I would love some context.

It was the pregame speech, before the Ubuntu part and running out of the tunnel. Instead of Pierce, Allen was doing the talking from what I've seen.

Might just be another attempt to somewhat portray the Celtics as a villain. 29 other teams that does the same thing, probably said the same words. Just unfortunate that the camera was on the Celtics again. ;D

Yup.

Ray doesnt want to hit an open 3, he wants to nail one in a defenders grill with the game on the line.

Paul doesnt want an uncontested lay-up. He wants to put you on his hip, up fake you, score an and-1 then stare at you as you realize how dumb you look.

Rondo wants you to fall down as he fakes behind the back and drops a perfect bounce pass to a wide open cutter.

KG wants to block your shot, run the floor and then put you on a poster...and then scream in your face about it so you wont forget the next time.

Perk doesnt even smile during a game.

Shaq doesnt either.

These are highly competitive guys who assert their dominance nightly. When it comes to game time, they are all business and want to take the opposition's manhood away.

The Lakers are the same way.

There is a reason why the last 3 years there have only been 2 real contenders for the throne.

Lol,

Ray Allen and the Boston Celtics are not the 'villains' of the NBA (trust me; I would know  ;)) though they were the visiting team last night so yeah, it might be a little cocky of Ray to say that 'that team' [the Golden State Warriors] didn't belong on their own court last night but I'm sure he didn't mean it that way  :P

Regardless, the Celtics are notorious for doing well in tough road games anyways, as evidenced by last year's playoffs so it isn't surprising that they were also able to 'walk the walk' last night and gain a convincing win at Oracle Arena.

Are you kidding me? Thanks and TP. This is a non story. What is he supposed to say in the pre game?

"These guys are awesome. I care deeply for all of them and I hope we can treat them with repect for the next 48 minutes."

"That team doesent belong on the same floor as us."

See guys I knew even "Classy" Ray Allen had that cocky attitude that the rest of the team has.

Good thing they backed it up tonight, if the C's had lost Ray Allen would be getting blasted all over the net.
I see a bigger problem here. It wasn't Garnett, Rondo nor Pierce who said that. Ray had to take it onto himself. It sounds to me like Rondo's not trying to lead the team (yes, he's never done that verbally, but he's bound to start sooner or later, sooner being better), Garnett was expected to do that and isn't, and Pierce looks uninterested again. Sounds like Ray got PO-ed and all he usually keeps inside as a dignified and noble great player, just burst out of him.
Of course he's cocky. Experienced players like him and Garnett know where each player and each team belongs to.

Here's the link for anyone who's interested.  I'm filing this one under "motivation for a veteran team" and moving on.  :)

Talk about reading a little too much in a quote.

I agree with what he said in a sense.

This is becoming more and more a league of the "haves" and "have nots" aka baseball.

Team reduction is necessary

Im guessing someone says this before every game, and this time it just so happened to be caught on camera.

If they didn't belong on the same court, why did our 4 best players have to play 142 minutes to beat them?

I'm fine with it, but it's funny how selective we are when it comes to something like this.  I remember when Baby said something similar about another team (Miami, I think) and most were telling him to shut up. Even when Paul says stuff, people say something like, "Ray has class and would never say stuff like that." All of a sudden, people like that attitude. LOL

And this is surprising to you?

I think all believe what Ray said, obviously.

I have never heard Ray say anything like this in interviews with the media. A camera caught him telling his teammates this. Big difference.
