Would you trade for 'Melo?

Carmelo is good. But I don't think he's as good as people make him out to be. It's not "THE MAN" kind of player to me. I don't see him being the number one guy on a team and taking them to the promised land.

I'd rather keep our old guys and work on younger people in a year or so.

And what was the last young team to really win it all anyway?

I agree, in many ways I see him as the next Paul Pierce, no one thought he was "the man" either, and until he really got the supporting cast, he wasn't

But, don't worry - Carmelo doesn't have any desire to come to Boston and we have nothing to offer Denver - it would have to be a three-way deal.

Also, Carmelo has played selfish basketball this year.  I'm not sure if he'd have time to adjust to our system, where no player is more important than the other stars on the team.

Exactly my thoughts, teams work for years, even decades to get the right team that can win a title, no point breaking it up and ending that chance unless you absolutely have to because your team has proven they cant win one. (i.e. orland magic trade)

Pretty funny that everything you just wrote could have been said about Pierce pre-big3.  If some team were considering trading for Pierce back then, their fans would have written the same reasons for not wanting Pierce.  Ironic!

You expect Carmelo to show a new commitment to defense that he's never shown in his entire career, plus master the team's defensive sets, plus learn to share the ball with his teammates, in a period of 28 games?

Accuse me all you want of "green goggles", but chemistry and fit are every bit as important in this league as talent are.  Give me Carmelo in 2013.  For 2011, Paul gives us a significantly better shot at winning.

I think Melo is overrated.*  I think the offers from the Knicks and the Nets are both already overpaying for him.  If I'm Denver I pull the trigger quick on one of these and pop the champagne.

*He's good, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he's bet the franchise good (as was the case with KG, for example).
