  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Weighing up every factor,
what is our most likely option?
Please rank what you think are the best and most realistic outcomes next week.

*The number one need in my eyes is a back up small forward (durrrrr)because i doubt very much that marquis is coming back.(or at least a move must be made because his status is so extremely uncertain).

*I think our bigs will stay untouched because shaq and semih coming back with JO playing 5 minutes on one leg is more likely than any big guys joining our roster(unless they're involved as part of a deal for a key back up small forward.)

*The only guy i can see filling the void and maybe improving what Marquis brought to the team this year is Josh Howard.
I really hope we can get him but it's probably wishfully realistic thinking.

SO....
* Are our two most likely new additions Anthony Parker and Rasual Butler? Im thinking these are the most realistic if we want to keep big baby.

*Is there a deal to gain josh howard (and possibly heinrich) without getting rid of baby that the wizards would accept realistically? (ie nate+JO+bradley/luke+marquis?)

Who will the newest member of the celtics be in one weeks time?

Rip or prince would be unreal but i cannot see it happening in a million years.
Murphy would be good but i think we need to fill the small forward void with a good on ball defender to let pierce have a break while the other teams star forward/guard is roaming around.

well between kirk & josh thats 12 mill

maybe multiple picks nate/j.o(buy out n comes back ) & bradley would do it

rip who knows i think most ikely in a buy out i'd be surpirsed if he comes in a trade the only way that happens is if dumars returns the favor
bradley/nate(maybe bought out n returns)/j.o(bought out n comes back) and a few picks as well

Or best option is to make a time machine and bring a Star Trek like doctor from the future to heal all these broken players.

I honestly think the best option might be to stay put with what we've got. Maybe pick up someone in a buy out but I dont want to make a trade just for the sake of making a trade.

It really depends on what the C's know about Marquis.  I know everyone wants to assume the worst, but it's also quite possible he is back by the playoffs.

That doesn't mean that I still don't look for a trade.  Personally, knowing that we have to play some great wings in the playoffs and that we'll likely get in foul trouble, I'd like to have 3 guys who can play the 3.  But what I do mean is that if Danny is confident that Marquis can come back, then maybe we look to deal Nate instead, and then swing everyone down one spot (West to the 1 and so on).

Still, I'm not sure there's a market out there for Nate.  It really sucks that Danny gave him that second year.  I think in some ways this is Danny's lesser Scalabrine deal.  If there were no teams out there willing to give BBD more than 3 million a year after his very impressive run in '09, I can't believe that there were any teams even close to matching the 2 year, 9 million dollar deal that Nate got.  I'd be shocked if there was anyone willing to give him more than the league minimum.

i trust Danny Ainge in making the best available option

he's being patient, i guess he learned from his past mistakes and thats what made him into a better GM

08 - signing of PJ Brown and Cassell

09 - yeh Mikki Moore sucked, but he provided fouls when our bigs was resting (im trying to be nice here)

10 - Nate Robinson and Eddie House trade, Nate Robinson and BBD helped us win game 4, Nate Robinson going off in the conference finals

11 - "Insert player here"

I think Danny will make a move soon, within the next 2 days. I see something happening Monday, Hopefully its Rausal Butler. He is a player we have a chance to grab and would fit well in the system. Scary 2nd unit with guys that could pore in 20 on any given night.

PG-Nate on offense
SG-Delonte on defense/ Wafer
SF-Rasual Butler
PF-BBD/JO
C-Shaq/JO

I'm fine with either Parker or Butler, whoever is more attainable.

I think when it's all said and done Rasual Butler will be a Celtics. He is probably going to be the cheapest option.

If JO wants to retire would anyone do him for Posey?  No doubt he could help us.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Rashual Butler but I'd be fine with Parker. We need the third wing. I'm assuming Shaq and Semith get healthy soon so our bigs wil be fine but if there's a good buyout candidate there, cut Luke.

I really thought Butler was younger, but he'll be 32 in a couple of months. Perhaps the Clips aren't playing him because his game has deteriorated. He is averaging 18 MPG, which is comparable to what he'll receive from the C's as Daniels was at 19 MPG. However, the key thing for me is production. His 32% from the field, 31% from 3's, and 69% from the line make Nate look like a sharpshooter.

^ Yeah he's having an off year but I think his defense is what will earn him minutes. If he can give us 15 min of solid defense at the 3 spot, I will have no problem with his sub-par shooting numbers.
