I'll take Davis over Jamison.  Jamison wilted in the playoffs and Davis usually thrives in big situations.  Stats don't tell the whole story.

In all fairness, Davis never had to face KG.   :)

Exactly what I was going to say.  People are bashing Jamison because of one series when he was matched up against KG.  Baby would be similarly abused by KG.  Heck, Baby got abused pretty badly by Rashard Lewis in the '09 playoffs.

I'd definitely take this trade.  Jamison > Baby.  As mentioned, Parker we have more faith will be healthy than Quis.  Sessions will be more consistent than Nate, but I will really miss what Nate brings to the team.  Not just energy in the game, but I think his cheering on the bench seriously gets overlooked.  I don't think JO will give us anything and we'll still have 3 centers rostered in the playoffs in Perk, Shaq, and Erden.

Can we base it on a career in which he hasn't done much in the playoffs?

Jamison has averaged 18.1 and 7.7 over his career in the playoffs.  Not sure what "doing much is", but we're not even asking this guy to do much, we're asking him to come off the bench.  I think there are a lot of players who "haven't done much in the playoffs" over their careers who we would rather have in place of Baby.

Based on the commets, it seems more people are of the opinion Jamison is better than Davis.

Just can't agree.  Jamison may have better offensive and rebounding stats, but I wouldn't want him anywhere near this team.  When has he ever won anything?  When has he ever come up big in a meaningful game anyone can recall?

Jamison just strikes me as the type to wilt under pressure.  About the only players I could see Jamison matching up well against in the playoffs would be Bosh and Bass.  Boozer, Noah, Howard, Horford, Smith, he'd have very little chance.

Davis isn't effective against all of those players all the time, but, at least a reasonable percentage of the time he holds his own.

I will glady take some "Jameson" though.  Preferably on the rocks.

When has David West ever won anything?  When has Boozer won anything?  When has Chris Bosh?

AGAIN, we're not asking Jamison to come in and be the team's savior.  We'd be asking him to be a bench player in this scenario.  He would be an upgrade on the bench over Baby just like West, Boozer, and Bosh would be.  Even though none of them have ever won anything.

Eh, I can't think of a single, Antawn Jamison coming up big in the playoffs moment. He's not a player with a great sense of the moment, nor is he a tremendous defender. He doesn't like playing in the post and he's a step slower than baby. So why would we trade a player who is cheaper, better defender and a similar offensive player who has come up big for us in the playoffs for someone who has never been one to rise to the occasion ( you can talk all you want about how he played KG last year, but it wasn't like he was dominating a young Varejo when those Wiz teams played Cleveland.) which is what you need off the bench.

Jamison hasn't had a lot of playoff success in terms of winning (mostly due to being on poor teams, outside of last year), but I think it's wrong to say he never came up big.  In 2007, for instance, he averaged 32.0 points and 9.8 rebounds.  It's not like it's his fault his team didn't advance.  Last year, he looked excellent against the Bulls, before looking good in three games and poor in three games against Boston.

As a sixth man, I think it would be fine.  I mean, it's not like BBD uniformly comes up big in the playoffs, despite his (unearned) reputation for being clutch.  People get on Jamison's case, but Baby went scoreless in Game 5 and Game 6 of the Finals, scored three points in Game 1, and shot 4-for-13 in Game 2.  If people are going to criticize Jamison's performances and argue that he can't fill BBD's role, then they need to acknowledge where Davis has come up short.

I'm fine with acknowledging Baby's shortcomings, but that 32 ppg performance in the playoffs came on a team without Butler or a healthy Arenas. I think you can see moments where all star players on bad teams do things to help their teams advance ( Paul Pierce in 2002) and can see their mettle and I've never seen Jamison as the kind of guy who works well under that spotlight.

Jamison is a better shooter and offensive player in general.

Babys strenghts lie in the fact that he hustles, can play the 4 and 5, defend dwight howard, and plays a general physical game.

Jamison would be just another jump shooter on this team and he couldnt play center and defend howard.

Obviously I'm in the minority in my opinion.  That's fine, I disagree none the less.

Just know this.  There is no chance Jamison will be in a Boston uniform.  Does anybody actually believe Danny would bring him here in a trade?

Thankfully Danny's in charge and not the people here, including me (I'd be bald by seasons end and I 'm not yet 30).

Rumor has it that Danny was interested in bringing Jamison here last year (along with Caron Butler) for Ray.  I don't think Danny has anything against Jamison's game.

Well, I suppose anythings possible.  I'd imagine Butler was more the intrigue in that deal, and Jamison was more of a "ok I suppose".

It didn't happen though, and rumors are just that, rumors.  Besides, I don't really believe Danny's above reproach in his deal making skills anyways.  He did, after all, once think Mikki Moore was the answer to all our ails.

Edit:  Jamison=Carter...Overrated, heartless, weak.  Both from UNC, so I'm not surprised (FULL disclosure: I'm a Duke fan).

Jamison is persona non grata, and I ain't changing my mind, so naa na naa na boo boo.

2nd Edit:  My heart belongs to Battier anyways.

Sessions is better than Nate, and Parker is better than any SF on our bench.

Jamison is a better offensive player than BBD, and he's a better rebounder.  He's not as good on defense, though, and he can't play center.

I think, on balance, this trade would make us better, even if it would leave us a little thing at center.  That said, I don't think that Cleveland is getting much value here, so I think they'd pass.  I can see them taking salary dumps for Jamison and Parker, but not for Sessions.

I think this is well stated. Considering Baby's ability to play the 5, it hurts a little on front line D.

Jamison is nowhere near good enough to be paid what he's making, especially when he's almost exclusively a 4 and we already have KG.  I'm not a Baby fan, but I'd rather just keep him.

Sessions is a nice player, but he wouldn't see time with Rondo and he's not better than D-West, so he wouldn't be all that useful.

Better off just trading for Parker.
