Of all the ideas May floated, the only one that really seems like a good one to me is the Nate/Quis for Posey deal.
If I'm Ainge, I only make it if I know Quis can't come back; however, if that's the case I think it's a good deal. Indy clears some space next year and we get better size and flexibility at the 1-3.
As currently composed (with Nate, West, and Wafer backing up the 1-3 respectively), we really are hurt by size and the fact that if Pierce and Wafer both get into foul trouble in a playoff game (a very realize possibility against LeBron), we're stuck with Ray, West, or Luke Harangody guarding him.
Pickup Posey, and you have a legit backup 3 with size, AND have the option to swing Wafer to the 3 still (next to Ray or Delonte) if Posey and Pierce both pickup cheap fouls.
It also works nicely at the 2 where Wafer becomes Allen's primary backup, but we have the option of playing Delonte next to Rondo if both Allen and Wafer pickup cheap fouls guarding the likes of Wade or Kobe in a playoff game.
And I really do think that Posey could see some type of a resurgence returning here. It won't be quite on the level of Hedo in Orlando (since Posey was never that good anyway and certainly won't play as much). And let's also remember that a lot less will be expected of him than in 2008, where Doc (at times) used him as the backup 2, 3, and 4. Now, he'll only have to play 10-15 mpg backing up Pierce.
