Fire Eddie Lacerte

This West injury  is the last straw for me.  If he can re-injure his wrist this quick, it was clear they rushed him back.  This is nothing new for the Celtics.  In 2009, it was the training staff's fault when they let Garnett play on that knee which had bone spurs - which led to suffering a career altering injury.  That ruined that season, and not having a healthy Garnett last season essentially cost us a title (think he would've gotten outrebounded 18-3 to Gasol?)  Now this year, we have essentially the entire team with injuries.  Are we an old team - yes.  But so are the Spurs.  This West injury is just adding to the long list of mismanagement with these injuries (Garnett, Jermaine "I need surgery, no I don't, actually I do.") and now this.  Of the four major sports, basketball is the least likely where these guys get any major injuries (it's loaded with ankle sprains).  This is crap.  Lacerte was there in 87 when that team was wrecked by injuries, and totally altered the careers of the entire Big 3, and now he's overseeing this.  Someone HAS to pay for ruining a shot at a championship.

There is sense to being frustrated with Lacerte.  I know he has been around forever, but doesn't his job rest on the health of the players?

Sure man, if I don't get enough white meat I get frustrated too, but its not like you take the knife out of the man's hand just because you get a leg and some thigh meat.

I can't say that I've been particularly impressed with the Celtics medical staff over the last few years.  That's not on Lacerte, but the team has mishandled Big Al and Wally without question, and arguably the medical staff has handled KG, JO, Delonte, Pierce (back in the day), Avery Bradley and a whole host of other guys poorly.  Outside of Perk, very few guys seem to recover as quickly as predicted, and we've seen more than our fair share of setbacks.  Those facts, coupled with the MRSA outbreak, call into question the entire medical side of the organization.

I don't know enough facts to give any sort of qualified opinion, but there are at least some open questions.

This is very tough because, like you said, we technically don't have all the facts.  But, there is just no disputing the fact that the Celtics have brutally mismanaged injuries.  Eventually, this isn't a fluke thing.  It is becoming a trend, and there needs to be something done about this.  It's too bad because in the NBA you only get so many cracks at a title.  So if we correct this situation this off-season it could be too late.

I don't think this can be placed on Lacerte...at the end of the day, we have a coach and President of Operations who were once both players themselves, and are both completely focused on winning now AND in the playoffs. When it comes down to it, I'm sure they're pressuring Lacerte daily about how soon they can bring players back, and how much they can continue to allow Pierce to drive himself into the ground. This isn't just Lacerte's problem: it runs from the top (Ainge and Doc) right down to the bottom (players).

And hey, how about focusing on the positive? Perk looks amazing out there (knock on wood).

It's not Eddie's fault KG's knee gave way in Utah, or that Perk landed awkwardly in LA, or Delonte landed on his wrist against NJN, or that Marquis has a history with this spinal cord.  Injuries are a part of the game, there's no way to prevent them.

Perk came back earlier than scheduled, and if for some reason he got hurt you'd be blaming the medical staff.  If anything you can blame West; he's been pushing hard to get back earlier than scheduled.

Yeah, it's Eddie's fault that we signed Shaq and JO. That Marquis was hurt in a extremely fluke play. That West's bone wasn't strong enough to take that hard fall earlier in the year. That we were forced to play Semih Erden with a hurt shoulder, because we were literally down too 3 bigs earlier in the year.

I too have had frustrations on the medical/training/conditioning staff over the years... This might be a stretch, but does weather (Boston) have something to do with it? Look at the Suns.

Cold weather and drop in pressure before a storm can supposedly cause joint discomfort due to arthritis. No doubt half our team has that in their knees.
But at the same time, Sport Science did a show on cold weather games versus warm. The #s were different by about 1%. So no real change, and basketball is played only indoors.

I 2nd that the medical staff should be upgraded and the entire team and Phoenix should be called.
