I get to work.  This is very awesome for me as I hate valentine's day.  It's not awesome for my girlfriend, but that's okay.  Anyways since it's valentine's day.  I figure it's appropriate to bring this gem of an article back out.  Enjoy Delonte everyone.

stupid freakin Valentines Day. I hate Valentines Day.

Gifts: 1 book of homemade "coupons" for stuff she wants me to do that I don't do. This ranges from vacuuming to taking care of her twin toddler nephews so her sister and her can have a beauty day, and other assorted chicanery.
1 Dinner out, at a 120-150 dollar range spot..
1 floral arrangement, $50.00
I haven't decided if chocolates are in the cards yet. I don't really wanna do chocolates.

Dumb holiday. Right up there below New Years Eve as most hated holiday on my list.

The fiancee and I don't do Valentine's Day, we both think it's a dumb holiday (one of the many reasons I love her).

For those guys that are obligated to expend a bunch of cash and energy today, I'd recommend introducing your significant other to the complementary March 14th holiday that was introduced a couple years ago.  I can't go into specifics due to CB rules, but Google "March 14th holiday" and the title of the second result will sum it up nicely.  I wouldn't click on the link at work though, for obvious reasons.

March 14th should be a national holiday.

My significant other & I celebrated yesterday, since we both had today off from work.  We've been together for almost 3 yrs now.

Gift-wise, she purchased me some new clothes, candy & cologne.

I ended up getting her candy, 2 dozen roses, some stupid mascara make-up that is battery powered & the tip rotates as you apply it to your eyes from the Sephora make-up company...cost 36 dollars..what a rip-off, but that's what she wanted & a 40" Samsung TV to put in her bedroom after she finishes redoing it.

We went to dinner at a restaurant here in Rhode Island called Twin Oaks...if you've ever lived or have been to northern RI, it is pretty much a well-known place, good quality food, but middle of the road in price, and ended the night going to see Adam Sandler's new movie, "Just Go With It".  Wasn't a bad movie, but certainly, IMO, was not his best...had a little more serious tone than the usual flat out comedic display he is predominantly known for.

Now that the holiday is all over for me, I'm pretty much all set in the gift dept. until her birthday in September...my wallet is now thanking me for giving it time to recuperate.

Hope everyone else who celebrates the holiday enjoys theirs, as well.

Was the Sandler movie worth seeing? The ladyfriend would like to go see it, not sure if I want to give in yet.

I can't say I enjoy Valentine's Day, but what can you do..  :P

I ended up getting the standard card and candy for the girlfriend, got her a dozen roses, a kitten, and cooked her dinner.

Dinner included balsamic glazed steak, twice-baked potatoes, and fresh steamed green beans..and I gotta say I REALLY surprised myself with the steak. It came out amazing, never have I cooked a better steak than that..we get to have the leftovers tonight I can't wait!  ;D

And I gotta laugh at that March 14th holiday..funny stuff

It is worth seeing.  I wasn't disappointed with it.  It's just that if you are expecting a movie where everything is straight comedy, stupid, child-like, senseless humor a la "Billy Madison" or "Happy Gilmore", it is not like that at all.

The movie has a lot of funny parts and is definitely a comedy, but underneath all of it, there is the premise for a love story between two people, which leans it a little more in the serious direction.  Sandler is obviously older now & is probably trying to do films with a little more adult-like humor, rather than appealing to strictly younger audiences.  It's a good movie...I just happened to go into it expecting it to be the Adam Sandler of 10-15 years ago...I don't watch movies too often, so I was definitely caught off guard with it.  You won't be disappointed, though.
