there is rumors that celtics are looking to trade Nate Robinson, Jermaine O'neal, Von Wafer, and 2nd round pick for Rip or Prince.

Where did you hear/read this? You're not taking the trade idea threads on this blog to be an actual rumour, are you?

I would be all over it. I would do a 1st round pick instead of a 2nd rounder.

Well if we did that 3 for 1 that opens a roster spot to add a buyout PG. This would seriously be awesome. Can we trade someone who is hurt like O'neal though? But this is getting me excited knowing Ainge is looking to make a deal by the deadline.

The chances of Rip Hamilton getting bought out are pretty slim....therefore, he isn't coming to Boston. We need to keep looking. Marquis isn't going to be effective this year..even if he comes back. He wasn't aggressive after coming back from the thumb injury last year...so we can only imagine the doubts that will cloud his play and mind when he comes back from a spinal injury.

I defitnaly think there will be a move made soon by Danny. And for a very decent SF I hope for. Not some dumpster move like O'bryant of Mikki Moore.

why are they slim? who's going to take on that type of contract? plus detroit's coach dosent really want rip on his team so why not just cut your losses

also the nate/j.o/wafer/1st round pick is really likely for teyshuan prince the contracts match up better than rip's & he fits very well with doc's defesive minded ways i wouldnt be surprised if danny did make a call about him

in a perfect world we trade for prince & sign rip if he was to get bought out

but ill settle with one or the other

Detroit won't buy him out until and unless the future of the ownership is decided and is clear. Why do you expect Hamilton to leave all that money on the table just to get some playing time? and that too as a backup? Just because the coach doesn't want him in the rotation doesn't mean that he'll be bought out. NBA players might be rich and all...but millions are still millions...nobody walks away from them unless they have very strong incentive (read: try and get a ring in the fading years of their careers...and Rip already has a ring).

I'll play along for a second...

This works in the ESPN Trade Machine:

BOS Sends- Robinson, J. O'Neal, Wafer

DET Sends- Prince, B. Wallace

Doc was the first coach to make Ben Wallace a full time starter. Big Ben can do everything J.O. was asked for about 4 million dollars less.

I just don't know if owners would pay all that luxury tax, payroll would be 89 Million.

T-Mac might be a better option considering the money.

Andrew did a thing called [fly to 'bad word]! I need proof or something before I believe... otherwise, why make a thread for something that's been suggested MANY times in other threads?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Tayshaun Prince is an expiring deal.  J.O. and Nate have another season left on their contracts.

In other words, it makes no sense for Detroit to give up (by far) the best player in the deal, while also taking on money.

Rip would make more sense from Detroit's perspective, but he's not really a small forward, so why would Boston want to take back his terrible contract?

if this deal is true (please post the link), it has to be for rip.

it makes no sense for pistons to give up an expiring deal in prince or jo and nate who are under contract for next year.

however, it does make sense for them to give up rip with 2 more years after this one, for jo and nate because it gets them off the books one year sooner. and there is a chance if jo gets traded there, he retires, which (correct me if im wrong), he essentially becomes an expiring contract at the end of this year.
