I wonder why the Celtics didn't go after him. He is a young athletic 3 who can defend and shoot the 3. He is now in Golden State with the averages of 16PPG 5reb and 3 assist. Should have been our MLE option rather the JO. To bad we couldn't get him away for GS for something like Nate Harangody and a 1st round pick or something would be a perfect backup for Paul.

The Celtics wanted no one (besides Pierce) signed beyond two years.

Plus, at the time, a C was the number 1 need.

Because he didn't show anything in Miami to warrant it. In fact, he probably missed more games than any other Heat player during his career there. Yes, more than JO.

Danny Ainge wanted a center to give the team some relief while Perkins was injured.

That was his first priority and why the MLE went where it did (Jermaine O'Neal).

Yeah, their hands were tied.  With Perk's injury and Sheed retiring there is no way they could not have used the MLE on a center.

Shoulda coulda woulda.. how come the C's didn't draft Landry Fields in the 2010 draft?  He wasn't injured coming out of the draft, is a solid defender, athletic, and versatile scorer.

Beat me to an example like this. Who knew Dorell was gonna have a career year for himself. Plus I think he fits much better in that system in Golden State. He wouldnt nearly be playing as well for us coming off the bench in a limited role.

I liked Wright as a possible guy to go after in the off-season.  I even mentioned him in a couple of posts, but nobody seemed too interested.

I watch the Heat and Magic on local networks when the Celtics are not on TV to get my NBA fix. Dorell Wright never has played much defense, likes to run and gun but not much else. Kinda like Ricky Davis but not as good. Riley was not broken hearted to see him go nor were many local fans that I know.
