If we hadn't been bitten seriously by the injury bug, we wouldn't be talking about Tony Allen. I wish him luck but we don't need him.

Sorry, but I've also been saying that we might not get by the Lakers or Miami if we don't have a wing defender.

You mean this year's MIA and LA?

Aren't we like 3-0 vs these two this year? And soon to be 4-0 after we beat LA tomorrow night?

Without TA?

I miss TA as well, but he left on his own terms, whatever they were.

After all, Marquis was playing so well this season that we had all forgotten about TA.

Until Marquis went down.

I believe that Delonte will help us at the 3 in some cases. We'll be ok. And Marquis will be back by March - just in time for our playoff run to June.

I was sure Marquis was going to go down at some point, he always does.  I'm not the only one that wasn't comfortable with only having Daniels as a backup to Pierce.  Too risky.

Nobody has a perfect bench. Having less depth at pg (with Delonte), at pf (with KG and BBD), or at center (Perk and the O'Neals) would have been just as risky if not more risky.

Just think for a little bit more money we could have had him instead of nobody backing up Pierce and Wafer backing up Ray.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think it's way too soon to predict Marquis coming back.

You're right. But I think that Delonte can spell a little bit at the SF spot.

Hopefully Wafer can provide some time there, too?

Wafer some, and I would expect to see Ray slide over and play sf with Nate or Delonte at sg.

Tony Allen is as much an injury risk as Daniels however. Having both wasn't going to happen.

Yeah but obviously I would've rather had Tony than Marquis.  The Celtics did too I think.

Before all the Tony Allen fanatics start coming out of the closet and professing what a mistake it was to lose Tony and how great Tony can be when given minutes lets remember a few points:

1. The last time Tony Allen scored over 20 points in a game was on 11/9/2008 against a Detroit team that had just traded away Chauncey Billups and added Allen Iverson and was in complete disarray.

2. Scoring is not Tony Allen's game.

3. In this GREAT defensive game he had last night he held Kevin Durant to 2 point OVER his scoring average of 29 PPG and 1 percent point OVER his average FG%.

4. The ONLY reason he is on the court starting is because Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo aren't playing at the moment.

TP Nick for the info, and I agree with you.

However, I do want to make one quick point:  Everyone talks about how inconsistent Tony was, but people fail to see that Delonte is inconsistently on the court.  I'd rather have someone who is at least consistently healthy.  This means that I'd rather have Tony over Delonte or Marquis, although I do like Delonte.  Either way, this latest game from Tony is a flash in the pan.

Well I think we all know he has it in him. Getting him to put it on the floor is a whole different story. No matter how well he does after leaving the Celtics I won't regret losing him because I know it wouldn't happened here.

Did you really just call Tony Allen "consistently healthy?"

Games Tony Allen played in the 3 seasons before this one:
75-46-54
Games Marquis played in the 3 seasons before this one:
74-54-51
Geames Delonte West played in the 3 seasons before this one:
61-64-60

I agree that TA wasn't consistently healthy, but I think those numbers are a little skewed because TA probably had some DNP CD's in there over the last few seasons.
