http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_National_Basketball_Association_career_3-point_scoring_leaders

Paul Pierce is currently # 12 all-time on the 3 pointers made list, which was pretty surprising to me . The other thing that is surprising is that he is only 179 3 pointers behind the # 4 all-time 3 pt maker Dale Ellis.

Here is the other active players who are in the to 20

# 3: Jason Kidd       - 1,748
# 5: Peja Stojaković  - 1,719
# 6: Chauncey Billups - 1,685
# 7: Rashard Lewis    - 1,667
# 8: Jason Terry      - 1,592
#12: Paul Pierce      - 1,540
#13: Steve Nash       - 1,538

Kidd and Stojakovic will likely retire or be end of the bench guys in about 2 years, so I think PP has a good chance of catching them . I think it will be hard to catch or pass Lewis , because that is basically his whole game and he is a few years younger than PP.

I say by the time PP retires he will be in the top 4 or 5 in all-time 3pters made. This is just insane the amount of talent the C's have on their roster, potentially 2 of the top 5 all time 3pt shooter( at least as far as makes )

Yeah he won't be top 3...more likely in the 4-6 range.  Still very impressive though.

He may pass Peja/Kidd, but I'd be surprised to see him catch Rashard Lewis and Jason Terry.
do it

I disagree looking at the list and the status of the age and game of those above and around him PP will finish 3rd!

Steve Nash's percentage is amazing.

Depends on how long he plays, really.

A better question might be whether anyone will break Ray's record.

I just took a look, and don't see anyone in the NBA right now who has a realistic chance. Rashard Lewis is 31. Steph Curry might be a threat, but right now he doesn't shoot enough 3s.

Ray will probably finish with around 3000 FGM. At a pace of 2 per game, it would take more than 18 full seasons to break the record.

I don't think anyone currently in the league will catch Ray, and I think the only established guys with any realistic chance of passing Reggie are Lewis and Jason Richardson (1350 and just turned 30 last month).

I'll predict that he'll be 8th when he retires. He'll pass Ellis, but so will everyone else.

I don't think he's catching any of the active players ahead of him. Maybe Jason Terry, if he plays a season longer than him.

It's crazy that Kidd is #3, considering how horrible of a shooter he was for most of his career.  His career 3pt% is 35% and that has increased in recent years.

because he always has the ball in his hands and it is more difficult to get open behind the 3 pt line unless you are off the ball coming off screens or the wing or trailer on the fast break, none of which Kobe is.

Jason Kidd is #3 all-time???????? Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.? Is that right? Why does that surprise the crap out of me?
