Yup, your right.  I was using the previous year, rather than last year of the previous contract.

It's an easy enough mistake to make.  At least you were using actual numbers and the CBA, which is more than I can say for NBA reporters.

Yup, but as I mentioned in the other thread, this is not good news.  This means that Perk is going to free agency, and will not be able to sign with the Celtics until after every other team in the league will have a chance to make him offers.

It does not look good for him coming back next year IMO.

$55 million over 6 years = Haywood's deal.

Yeah, I agree.  I think he'd be a great fit in Houston; we'll see if they open their check book.

EDIT:  To clarify, I agree that Perk's price will be driven up by being on the open market.  I'm not certain that he's leaving Boston, though.

C'mon Roy. Just because we heard scenarios where we could not sign Ray or Paul, sign LeBron with the cap space and then bring back Paul and Ray is no reason to think they don't understand the CBA.

Lets not lump the rest of the press with Tanguay...

Two other repeat offenders are Tony Mazz and Ian Thompson.  The former is a bit of a tool; the latter should know better.

I give Mazz a little bit of a pass since he is not a basketball guy.  If he does it in print, I blame his editor for allowing him to even comment on the C's, and he and Felger do a pretty good job of making it clear that they know nothing about basketball on their show.

Tanguay on the other hand is not only a basketball guy, but he covers the C's, and should know better.  Plus, he pretends to have inside knowledge, which just make it look worse.

Being a Center, It wouldn't surprise me if he got a contract more than Rondo. Celtics may not budge but some team will offer Perkins the bank. NBA has a tendency to severely overpay Centers. Perkins being one of the better Centers in the NBA, He'll Def get $10-14mil a year contract. Perk deserves every penny he'll get.

In this wonky market for players I'd guess Perk's services could go for $10-12 million but that's just a guess.

That's probably would he'll end up getting. Just hope someone doesn't try and overpay for him.

Perk is a defensive specialist center. These don't crack $10 million. Marcus Camby is getting 8-9 million per year, which is probably the max Perk will get offered. That is, if there is a team with cap space that's interested in him.

Marcus Camby is getting $11.7 million this year and $12.8 million next year.

36 years old, Camby.

Perk goes to the high bidder danny signs greg oden for a song.  He regains his health and dominate form and we win 5 titles in a row.
a round of green kool aid for everyone!

Haha.  Unfortunately, Portland seems pretty set on giving Oden an $8 million qualifying offer next year.

Healthy Perk is worth 8-10 mil.  I wouldn't pay more than 6 for him.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
