BOSTON -- On a day when the Boston Celtics lost Marquis Daniels for at least a month because of a bruised spinal cord, Delonte West delivered some optimistic news.

West expects to return to action in the Celtics' first game after the All-Star Break.

If all goes according to his schedule, he would play February 22 against the Golden State Warriors on the road.

“That's the update that I have after seeing the CT scan,” he told CSNNE.com. “Give it another week or so and I can get back to it. I'm happy with those results.”

West has been sidelined since breaking his right (non-shooting) wrist on November 24 against the New Jersey Nets. He had the brace removed last month and has been participating in team shoot-arounds. He is anxiously awaiting the next Celtics practice.

“When we do have a practice, I think I'm going to be able to go full contact,” he said.

West, who served a 10-game suspension to start the season, had played in just five games before suffering the injury. He was averaging 6.8 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 17.6 minutes off the bench.

The Celtics have looked forward to West’s return the entire season, and it can’t come soon enough after Daniels injury.

Said West, “We’re keeping him in our prayers right now and hope everything works out.”

Yes. Now that Delonte is back, the Celtics are going to average 600 points a game and only hold opponents to two points!!

Just teasing ;D

Happy he's coming back

Ha, yeah. I am glad he's coming back. I just hope he's 100% healed from his injury. Even if it's his non shooting hand, breaking a wrist can be a pretty serious injury in sports. Hopefully there will be no lingering effects.

I broke my wrist 2 years ago pretty bad. I didn't have health insurance at the time so I didnt get the surgery I needed, I also didnt get any kind of brace or cast or rehab. I just got vicodin....

Now I may not be able to lift a whole lot of weight, and it gets sore from time to time, but at it's worst I could still play basketball(it's my non-shooting hand as well)

It's one of those things where 1-70lbs does absolutely nothing at all to it, but once you get into higher weights I really feel it. Unless someone lands on it or he falls on it he really shouldn't have to worry about it affecting him. He has the best doctors and tons of rehab he should be fine.
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

question: considering he's on a min contract, what options do the Cs have in resigning him? what kind of deal can they sign him to and how does it affect their MLE?

Since there isn't a CBA in place for next year no one knows.

Under the current CBA rules we could use the non-bird exception to give him a slight raise on the minimum, sign him for the minimum, or use the MLE.

But given the anticipated labor strife that is coming I don't think we should make the assumption that the rules are going to stay the same.

Delonte West still targeting a return after A-S break. He said the wrist won't be 100 percent for another six months.
