I just pray Marquis is okay come playoff time.  Good luck Wafer.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Well, I think having Wafer backup Pierce in the short term is OK.  It's not ideal, but if we can survive games with Baby and Harangody playing together at the 4/5, we can survive 10-15 mpg of Wafer at the 3.

I don't, however, like it for the playoffs.

If Danny isn't sure that Marquis can get back for the playoffs, he really needs to make a move.

The only other scenario I could see working would be to work a rotation where KG is manning the 3 when Pierce is out.  Is it ideal?  No.  But while people can talk about KG losing a step all they want, he could still probably defend the 3 better than most backups in this league.

Can we trade JO to Indy or make a buyout offer for James Posey? Is that a possible solution?

Delonte will be back on the first game after the All-Star break according to Jessica Camerato, and Bradley has been recalled from the D-League. So, short therm we should be OK but on the long term I agree that we should try to get a wing if Marquis can't come back soon enough for the playoffs.

We'll just be going small a lot with Ray and Wafer at the 3.  When Delonte is back, don't be surprised to see him there occasionally.

I would try to get Pietrus from the Suns. He's stuck on the bench ever since he got there, so they can't be valuing him too much.

Bradley had an interesting line in last night's game:

22 pts on 9-16 shooting, 1-1 3pt, 3-3 ft, 7 assts, 6 rbs, 2 steals, 2 turnovers, but in his 35 minutes on the floor he was -41 in a 142-100 loss to a team that is 11-20 on the season.

Avery has a long way to go.

As for Mickael Pietrus, I just don't see how we could get him.

trade Nate and Harangody for Pietrus. Nate is not needed once Delonte comes back in a week or two anyway.

DWest is a little like Marquis: there's just too much likelihood of his going out again to trade away Rondo's other backup.

What about Luke?   I realize he would get abused by a quick (or even not so quick) 3s, but consider the ability to use Luke or Von for 10-12 minutes on a back-up 3 depending on the back-up's size and quickness.  I think Luke's energy may account for something and be a good learning opp for him.

I agree that if Quis is projected to be out for the playoffs, we'll want someone else.

you gotta set up for the playoffs, and I don't see anyone on our roster handling Kobe, lebron, or wade off the bench well enough for us to win those series. Pietrus would be a huge help. Delonte is not that injury prone, he was solid on the cavs.

Jamario Moon, any possibility whatsoever?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Is it possible that the Cs may buy out Marquis if he is definitely going to be out the rest of the year? I know this seems a little harsh, but we need the roster spot if we are going to hold on to all of these young guys. And, of course we could sign him again next year.

The problem with this is if the Celtics win the championship, then Marquis doesn't get a ring.
