Have to look at the new SF crisis of as an opportunity.

How about a trade of JO back to Indy or buyout for Mr. James Posey?

Get well soon Quisy! Thank God he's okayish!

For the Celts... Quis is huge for our bench (and allowing Ray or PP to get a breather), we will need SOME1... Wafer, um... eek!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I really hope Danny makes a move before the trade deadline...I don't want to see Delonte and/or Wafer playing the 3 for 2 months. They are SGs and Ray's backup.

First off, his health is the important thing here, so I'm glad he is gonna be OK. I have no clue what it takes to heal a bruised spinal cord, but we should def err on the side of caution with this one, and I'm sure we will.

As for the impact on the team, it is pretty big because of a lack of options. Can we go small with Wafer? Against the Nets, sure. Against Miami and Chicago, no. Harangody isn't an option for important minutes.

We can stretch Pierce out to 38-40 minutes in the playoffs, but we will need 10 solid minutes if Marquis isn't cleared by then.

I think Ainge is gonna look long and hard at some sort of deal within the next couple weeks.

Sit Marquis for the season.  A spinal injury isn't something to be messed with, especially when he's had issues with it in the past.  We'll be alright, and for him health is more important.

Wafer is undersized for the 3, but with his length and newfound defensive intensity he'll work out just fine there.  Frankly, I've been hoping he'd get more minutes anyway.

Totally freaked out when I saw Marquis not moving at all and realized how much I really like this guy. He is one classy player and person and my heart goes out to him.

Wishing him much support and a speedy and safe recovery.

Medical professionals please:
Tell us about spinal cord bruising and the possible short and long term impact.  Does it need to be 100% healed before playing again?  Are you at greater risk for repeat injury if you've had this type of injury before?  Would you expect a mental impact -- as in, gun shy with contact -- upon return?

Also, someone mentioned that Quis had a similar injury before -- please explain as I wasn't aware of a previous spinal injury to Quis.

I'm no medical expert..but from what I found/read on the internet, you won't be able to move if the spinal cord itself is bruised...it sounds like bruising along the spinal cord in Marquis' case since it's been reported that he is able to move.

During the post game press conference, sitting alongside Ainge, team physician (Dr. McKeon) stated it was a bruised spinal cord. He also said that it's a similar injury to the one he suffered during the playoffs last season. They both mentioned that he's had some noted spinal issues throughout his career, not just with the Celtics. Also, that Daniels has suffered from tingling in his extremities in the past, but did not elaborate if it was spinal cord related. In addition, Daniels did not suffer a concussion as a result of the fall, but laid motionless because he was simply unable to move immediately following the injury.

Thanks.  I didn't see the post-game -- I appreciate the info.

Great news. Whether we're productive without him I don't care as long as he's ok. That was a seemingly simple collision but almost with catastrophic results.
