None of this surprises me. I think Danny is going to have to wait this out until the summer. Like with BBD, Perk wants big money, the matter is whether he'll get it. I do think, however, Perk will give the C's a chance to match/better any offer he gets.
The question becomes how much the C's are willing to invest in a player who likely will never be a star. To me it's not so much whether he has a place on the next generation Celtic team, but whether we can afford to pay him big bucks AND draw at least one more star here.
Personally, I'd rather see them overpay him in the short term than give him a long term deal. For instance, I'd rather a 3 year 36 million dollar deal than a 5 year 40 million dollar deal. That way, he expires the same time that Pierce does in case Danny realizes that he can't rebuild effectively with Perk. That also keeps things in place for us for next year.
The good news of course, is that if he does leave, he won't be leaving to the Heat. I can't believe anyone bought into that B.S. anyway, but if he isn't taking the aforementioned deal, there's no way he's taking a MLE deal from ANYONE (including the Heat).
