Finally, Richard Dent made the Hall of Fame.  This day is long overdue.

Quote
Deion Sanders and Marshall Faulk led a class of seven voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Joining them were Shannon Sharpe, Richard Dent, Ed Sabol, Les Richter and Chris Hanburger.

I've gotta say, I think the voters got it right this time.  It's amazing that 8- and 9-time Pro-Bowlers like Richter and Hanburger had to wait this long to get in.

A guy like that should definitely not have to wait for Dan Marino to get in

That's a very solid class.  No complaints on any of them.

It would've been nice to see Curtis Martin get in but tough competitiion.  He'll probably make it next year.

Nice to see Ed Sabol make it in.  Guy invented NFL Films; a big part of why the game has gained popularity.

I don't get the headline in ESPN that says Deion was all about his mom.

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/_/id/6840787/love-hate-deion-sanders-never-let-anyone-define-him

Is that what you always thought of Deion.  Oh man. That guy is just all about his mom. Man Deion loves his mom.

Were the hookers and cocaine while preaching about Jesus about mom too or was that about something else.

Can't wait to hear how Farve was all about his doggie

Sharpe was terrific.  His mantra about being the second best player in his family was classy....And pretty much factual.

Hanburger was way overdue and his little mini-roast was hysterical.

My problem with the HOF is it is mostly the glamor guys that get in, while the less then glamor positions do not.  I'm not saying kickers, punters, offensive guards, etc. should be as represented as the QB's, RB's, LB's, etc., but it is embarrassing that the HOF doesn't have a single punter and just one kicker (there are a few kickers and one punter in, but they played multiple positions and would not have made it had it not been for the success at the other positions).  If the position exists and is critical to a team's success it should be thought of no differently then any other position.  Really truly is an embarrassment.
