I apologize in advance if these have been asked before....
Ok so theres been a lot of talk about the possibility of Dwight Howard coming here in 2012, and I had some questions about the circumstances regarding those possibilities.
In the years leading up to the 2010 free agent sweepstakes, a lot of people had questions about whether the C's could get in on it and the answer was NO, and one of the main reasons I believe was because the Celtics had Ray Allen as a free agent that year and I believe also maybe Rondo, and for the Celtics to create room, they'd have to renounce the rights to both Rondo and Allen, and that certainly wasnt going to happen.
So my question is, arent Garnett and Allens contracts up the same year Dwight becomes a free agent? Wont we again have a cap hold on both players unless we renounce the rights to them??
We always could do that, but I have a hard time seeing Danny just toss both KG and Ray to the curb for a shot at Dwight. I always imagined maybe seeing Danny resign KG and Ray to very modest deals, leaving room to sign a younger players on the rise.
So I guess my questions are. Are we gonna have a cap hold on our expiring contracts that summer? and If Danny resigned KG and Ray to vet min deals (which wont happen) would we still have cap space to sign a player like Dwight. and finally, Does anyone else besides me think there is only a 2% chance Dwight comes here? Dwight is a nice guy but hes always reminded me of a spoiled kid in the NBA, and I just cant see him signing in a place where he wont get a ton of attention from the media like he would in NY, California, or just by staying in Orlando.
