Yes I want revenge on the Lakers, but I'm also tired of them, and I don't think they're all that good.....I don't think they could have stayed close to the Celtics in last year's finals if the refs hadn't turned the first 3 games of the series into an unwatchable foul fest.  The refs improved after that until the 4th quarter of game 7, when they panicked and brought the game to a halt once more...stoppage, stoppage, more stoppage, no flow at all.  We had bad luck with the Perk injury too.  But the flow/control issue the leauge has is a digression from the point of this thread.

I have come to view the Lakers as beneath me/us/the Celtics, and I think it would be interesting to watch the Celtics dismantle the Spurs in the finals.

There could be two great joys to the end of the season: one could be watching the Spurs take out the Lakers in 6 or 7 games, and the next could be KG and the Celtics taking down Duncan and the Spurs in 5 or 6 games.

That's a clear enough statement for me, and would be more interesting at this point imo.

Forget winning the West again, I root for the Lakers to miss the playoffs every year. So I'm with ya

Yes, I want the Spurs!

After the C's take the title back, KG can claim his rightful place as the greatest PF of all time.  Duncan is a center anyways, but his recognition as the top PF is a simple matter of playing for elite teams, while KG suffered through playing for the T-Wolves (one of the worst NBA franchises).

KG is better, plain and simple.  Beating Duncan head to head in the Finals will finally bring the recognition KG deserves.

No I want LA.  This season is starting to resemble 1986 where LA sneaks out the backdoor to escape another beat down.

Exactly.

We own them, this is the rubber match and I don't want them to have the last laugh. I don't think beating duncan is going to change peoples minds about who the best PF was.

Plus, just think of what Shaq will say if he beats Kobe in the finals? It would be epic.

Last night made me sick, not only did I have to root for Orlando(fail), I had to stomach hoping for an LA win. I want that saftey of a game 7 in Boston
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I root against the Lakers every night. If they don't make the finals, I will be happy. I don't care who the Celtics beat. All that matters is that they win 18.

Yea, quite honestly, if the Lakers are in the NBA FInals, and the Celtics beat them, great. But I don't want them there just for the sake of avenging last season's loss in Game 7. That can't be taken away from the Lakers.

I'd rather the Celtics just win this year. And quite honestly again, I dunno if it matters where the Celtics have a hypothetical Game 7 in the NBA Finals if one of their starters gets hurt again in the game before it. The Celtics can win on the road, believe it or not. That's not a new thing to them. Let's just hope someone doesn't get hurt again when we may need him or them most.

I would like either obivously.

KG vs Duncan would be cool

and Shaq vs. Duncan - for 5th ring would be cool

among many other things

I want LA.

Shaq having the chance to beat Kobe.

C's/Lakers Rivalry.

Avenging last years finals, which we should have won if Perkins hadn't gone down.

Too many story lines to not have a Celtics/Lakers finals this year.

Duncan didn't play for elite teams, he made those teams elite.  Those teams would be lucky to be an 8 seed if they replaced him with an average PF.  If you put an all star like Chris Webber on that team instead of him, I don't know if they even win 1 championship (even in '07, I bet they don't beat phoenix).

KG unfortunately rarely had good supporting casts.  But even when he did (Cassell and Sprewell), he still never even made it to a Finals.  I think only even made it to the conf. finals once?

The one year they made the conference Finals both Cassell and their backup PG got hurt. KG was bringing up the ball because no one else could. They still took the Lakers to 6, KG and Spreewell both had to do way to much in that series.

That was the only year KG got out of the first round before he came to Boston.

I don't care who we play in the Finals, I just want to win.

I liked what Barkley talked about how they asked him "do you want to play the Bulls to get a shot at Jordan" and he said he wanted to play the Clippers.

You say "take Duncan of of those Spurs teams and they struggle to make the playoffs, let alone win any championships".  But if you take KG off Minny, they would have been the worst team in the league.  Kind of like how Minny has fared since KG's departure.

KG is better, Timmy was blessed with better circumstances.  This is why I want to see them go head to head and hopefully settle this matter.

I'd be much happier with the Spurs.  I think they're more beatable and I'd be happier seeing them beat us than the Lakers.  If the Lakers win this year, they tie us for most titles.
